A <strong>to</strong>rna<strong>do</strong> hit Sacramen<strong>to</strong>, California on Thursday during a second day of s<strong>to</strong>rms blanketing the state. The <strong>to</strong>rna<strong>do</strong><br />

About 20 min before school finished it rained and hailed really hard. I thought it was just another rain shower. When<br />

I went <strong>to</strong> pick up my children from school the roads were flooded and I couldn’t <strong>get</strong> <strong>to</strong> the school. They said that it<br />

would probably be 3 hours before we could <strong>get</strong> our kids. Well, after about an hour of sitting in the car and waiting<br />

everyone started leaving. When I was finally able <strong>to</strong> <strong>get</strong> <strong>to</strong> the school, it only <strong>to</strong>ok an hour and a half for one of the<br />

other roads <strong>to</strong> become clear enough <strong>to</strong> <strong>get</strong> through; the teacher informed me that a <strong>to</strong>rna<strong>do</strong> had hit the school. It<br />

was not a big one but it did hit the playground. Nobody was hurt, thank goodness. The kids were all playing games<br />

in the classroom laughing and carrying on as it nothing happened. But the worst was still <strong>to</strong> come. When we got<br />

home I saw that my house was completely destroyed…<br />

Luckily my husband wasn’t at home at the time. All in tears and with petrified children on the back seat, I called<br />

him on his mobile and <strong>to</strong>ld him what had happened. He was there in no time…<br />

It all ended well because we were well compensated for our loss. After this nightmare we were able <strong>to</strong> buy more<br />

things than we used <strong>to</strong> <strong>have</strong>.<br />
