Lake Johnston Lake Johnston is located 540 km from Perth in Western Australia. The operation includes an underground mine and a concentrator which processes ore mined using the traditional floatation technique. Angola Namibia Francistown Zambia Zimbabwe Phoenix Selkirk Mozambique The concentrator processes sulfide ores using the traditional floatation technique and produces concentrate with a nickel grade of approximately 14% to 15%. The capacity of the concentrator is 1.5 million tonnes of ore per year. Waterloo The Waterloo nickel mine is located 35 km south of Leinster in Western Australia and 5 km north of the Thunderbox site. Waterloo partially uses auxiliary infrastructure of the suspended Thunderbox gold mine. Ore mined at Waterloo is processed under a tolling agreement at the BHP Billiton Leinster concentrator in Australia. Botswana Tati Nickel Tati Nickel includes the Phoenix open pit nickel mine and the Selkirk underground nickel mine, which is currently being on care and maintenance mode. The Phoenix mine is located 35 km east from Francistown (the second largest city in Botswana, located in the north-east part of the country). This open pit mine is built on a sulfide deposit of copper and nickel ores. The Phoenix open pit mining operations include a concentrator which processes mined ore using the traditional floatation technique. The concentrator capacity has recently been increased to 5 million tonnes of ore per year. Tati Nickel concentrates are processed on a tolling basis by the BCL smelter located 200 km away from Phoenix. BCL’s high grade matte obtained through processing of the Tati Nickel concentrates is sold to customers who process the matte into refined metal. 20

Harjavalta plant processes nickel concentrates from the Group’s other operations and nickel-containing intermediates from third parties. Concentrates are pre-processed at the Boliden Harjavalta smelter of Boliden AB located in the same Suurteollisuuspuisto industrial park in Finland as Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta. High grade matte and other semiproducts with high nickel grade are then delivered directly to the Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta refinery. Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta refinery has the capacity of 60 thousand tonnes per year of nickel products. It employs a technique of sulfuric acid leaching of nickel products. This consistently results in nickel recovery rates above 98%, which is an advanced practice for the mining industry. Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta refinery produces refined nickel, including nickel cathodes, briquettes and salts, as well as semiproducts, including copper cake containing PGMs, and cobalt solution which are further processed by third parties. USA Stillwater Mining Company Stillwater Mining Company mines the J-M Reef deposit located in Montana, USA. Stillwater mine and East Boulder mine extract sulfide ores containing mostly palladium and platinum. The extracted ore is enriched at two concentrators located close to the mines. Stillwater Mining Company processes concentrate produced by the concentrators at its smelter in Columbus, Montana. Granulated matte is delivered for further processing to the Stillwater precious metals plant located near the smelter. The refining of PGMs is outsourced to independent precious metal refineries in New Jersey and California, USA. In addition to the primary metal production, Stillwater Mining Company has been producing PGMs from scrap (mostly from recycled autocatalysts) since 1997. 21
