Asia Assembly
welcomes guests
The Area of Asia Assembly took place in the Sister
Augustine Marie Hall, the auditorium of Holy Cross College in
Dhaka, Bangladesh, on May 12. Each area outside of Asia was
invited to send two sisters to the assembly. Responding to
this invitation were Sisters Mary Ann Pajakowski and Yvonne
Hatt from the Area of North America, and Sisters Mary Louise
Wahler and Helene Sharp from the Area of Africa. All four
were impressed by Bangladesh. The feelings about this graced
time are confirmed in the observations of Sister Mary Ann,
which follow.
New “turf ” feels like home to visiting sisters

life.” — Psalm 138
This line from Psalm 138 was chosen
by Sisters Molli Gertrude Costa and Violet
Rodrigues for their jubilee cards. Sisters
Yvonne Hatt and I also thought it was a
great perspective for the life of Holy Cross
in Bangladesh.
Both of us went to Bangladesh not
knowing what to expect. We never
thought we would have the opportunity
to see our sisters on their home “turf.”
We had met a few from past committees,
renewal programs, and ministry
experiences in Utah, but most were names
in the directory, in places we did not
know how to pronounce correctly. We felt
that in going, we were representing the
Area of North America (ANA).
So, with the help of the ANA
leadership, we asked the sisters at the
three ANA meetings to write greetings and
prayers to our sisters in the Area of Asia.
These messages were short, simple and
heartfelt.
