Transitions - August 2000
DDC MINUTES
June, 12, 2000
The June meeting of the DDC was called to order by Debbie Lavallee at 7:10 p.m. Present at the meeting were Ed and
Debbie Lavallee, Tracy Ramey, Diane Huber, Sara Craig, Candice and Pamela Hall, Caryn Bloom, Teddie Proctor, Vicky Bryant,
Sally Waite and Carol Farrow. Absent from the meeting were Julie Madriguera, Jennifer Beard and Nora Weyand.
The minutes from the May meeting were read by Sally and approved by the board.
Treasurer's report: Tracy said that the spring shows had a profit of $2,600.
General/Special Meetings: Candice will pick up Dicky's meat and side dishes for the June 18th general membership meeting.
Members will be asked to RSVP to Candice via e-mail or phone call. A vote will be taken on the new by-laws.
Junior/Young Riders: Raffle sales from the DDC and Cricket Hill Shows earned $75.00. Nine riders are signed up for the
Classic Kur clinic. The Susan Dutt-Roth clinic in August might need to be moved, Jennifer hopes to be taking Jenna Rippy
to the Junior Cosequin Championships in Parker, Colorado. Jennifer will continue her board position another year. She
will again be going to the West Palm Beach CDI this winter and study with Susan Dutt-Roth. Those interested in going
need to contact her by the end of October 2000.
Ads and Promotions: The winner of the In Stride Breeches is Nora! Thank you for all of your hard work! We have horse
treats to use for schooling show prizes. Nora has sent out 500 sponsorship packages for the Yellow Rose shows. Cheryl
Walker will be the official photographer at our fall shows in exchange for show ads.
Newsletter: Last months' newsletter was huge! Teddie asks that all information be sent to her as early as possible, but
no later than the 20th. Please list attachments on e-mails so that she can be sure that all were sent. She will try to confirm
that information has been received if it is sent early enough.
Historian: Sara took 5 rolls of film at the spring shows. It can be hard to find the award winners for pictures.
Internet Page: Caryn has overhauled our web site! The trainer profiles that have been in the newsletter since January are
included. Classified ads are also included. 83 hits have been recorded since the site was re-done. Thank you Caryn!
OLD BUSINESS
Vicki is working on the policies and procedures manual. She needs all board members to submit job descriptions.
Ed reported that the spring show was a success. We made a profit, as Tracy reported. The TD report was great except for
the warm-up area. The problems are with the Los Colinas facility and hopefully will be fixed by our next shows. We discussed
including the warm-up arena rules in the program. We need to decide by the next meeting whether to have 3
or 4 arenas at the next shows. Ed would like us to consider buying another arena from Horse of Course. They have
one for $1,550 that is a pvc type with anchors to hold it in place. It would store easily and is simple to put up and take
down. We need a show manager for next year, Ed will not be able to continue with the job.
Sara reported that the entry form for the schooling show was not in the last newsletter. It will be in the next one. Caryn
will schedule ride times and post them on the web site. There will be a used tack sale.
NEW BUSINESS
Jim Eldridge has offered the use of Stonegate for the Instructor Certification series. Diane Huber will head the nominating
committee for the next board member elections. We discussed using Bee Pape as our show manager. Ed would be willing
to be our contact person and work with Los Colinas.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m. The next meeting will be July 10th at Street Talk , on 121 in the Colony. Sara
will reserve a spot for us.
Respectfully submitted, Sally Waite
