WELCOME TO HARWOOD HEIGHTS & NORRIDGE!

community for strength and support.

www.harwoodchamber.org

Dear Residents & Members,

“Community = Power.” I wish I would

have thought of that one.

Unfortunately, I can’t say that I did.

However, what I can do is stand behind

that idea.

In a time where many people feel

power-less, what could be more

appropriate than looking to our own

Another year has gone by, and again, the officers and I, village

trustees, and many others, pull together to create this guide.

We hope that this guide acts not only as a reference to local

businesses, but also as a reminder that true power comes from

supporting one another.

I’m proud to say that we’re setting this example within our own

circle. Although the chamber has several members in the same

industry, we don’t see each other as our competitors. Rather, as

different parts to one whole team whose interest is the good of the

community. It’s residents, its businesses, it’s future.

I’m also proud to inform all of you that our membership is the largest

it has ever been! Member participation is at an all time high as well!

I praise my fellow officers, for their continued efforts. The members,

for their support and belief in our chamber. The residents, for

keeping us all in business.

God Bless,

Anthony Pinello

Time brings many changes and

challenges to a community like

Harwood Heights. One of those

challenges is to ensure that our

community is part of the economic

recovery taking place on the national

and global level.

The O’Hare expansion project provides

us with the opportunity to grow and

stabilize our economic base as well as

envision our role in a global society. To that end, under the auspices

of an FAA grant, our businesses, residents and elected officials are

working with a community planning and urban design consultant to

develop a strategy that goes beyond the creation of pretty pictures

and statistical charts. Our strategy will move us from “a small town

with big opportunities” to a community that maximizes its potential

to the benefit of residents and business owners.

Partnerships between residents, businesses and neighboring

municipalities form the foundation of our future growth. Residents

To Our Norridge Community:

The geographic location of Norridge in

relation to the greater Metropolitan

Chicago Area, is a major attraction for

both residents and businesses. Much

of the necessary money for services

and maintaining our infrastructure

comes by way of State funding on a per

capita (average per person) basis,

which is determined by our population.

I want to stress our commitment to providing consistent quality

services to you - our residents and business community; services

which are cost-effective, efficient and responsive to your needs.

We will continue our work toward providing an excellent quality of life

for all our citizens.

It must be stressed that about 75% of all operating revenue for the

must support our local businesses that will, in turn, contribute to the

economic stability of the village. Intergovernmental partnerships

promote the efficient use of resources and collaborative solutions to

common problems.

The Harwood Heights-Norridge Chamber of Commerce will play an

important role in the economic recovery of our community. These

women and men with varying acumen and experience will help grow

a “business friendly environment” that encourages economic

development and stability for the residents of our community.

Join us as we step forward as a partnership of residents,

businesses and municipalities to face the challenge of economic

recovery and discovering our role in a global society.

Village, which is used in part to provide services, is funded by sales

tax revenue received from the State of Illinois based on retail

sales/purchases at the businesses in Norridge. As we have at the

Village government level, I know everyone has cut back on their

spending, but obviously it is imperative that when you do spend,

you make every effort to keep your hard-earned purchase dollars

in our community by patronizing our business establishments. Many

of these businesses are members of the Harwood Heights/Norridge

possible.

Success is important. As we

approach the “teens” decade of the

21st Century, every one can see that

the Harwood Heights and Norridge

Chamber of Commerce is successful

and continues to grow and flourish.

It is hard to believe that just a few

years ago our villages did not have a

Chamber of Commerce. Harwood

Heights and Norridge are fortunate to

have a group of business owners, manufacturers, professionals,

community leaders and service providers that are civic minded.

These individuals and businesses care about our community and

recognize that their involvement in our neighborhood makes for

better business and customers.

I urge every resident of Harwood Heights and Norridge to support

our local businesses. Shop at local stores and restaurants, use

the services of our local banks, accountants, dentists and doctors,

auto repair shops and others who are a part of our community. By

shopping at these establishments you provide new opportunities

for employment, generate sales tax dollars needed by our towns

and show others that Harwood Heights and Norridge are a great

place to shop and do business.

Our communities stand out as a great example of people and

businesses working together. Remember the money you spend at

local shops and stores not only helps the business, but helps you

and your home town.

Make an effort to say thank you by buying your goods and services

in Harwood Heights and Norridge, you will see the difference as

our towns continue to prosper, and grow stronger and better.
