Your generosity helped cover the costs of a wide
range of needs for our very special children and
adults this past year, and had a profound positive
impact on our ability to help each of them fulfill
their greatest possible potential. In addition to
vital funds for general operating support (nearly
$450,000) and tuition assistance (over $300,000),
here are some other projects you helped to fund
this year:
• Assessment software, mats, weighted vests, and
communication devices for use by our clinical
and therapeutic staff
• Touch screens for 6 classrooms
• Video conference systems, screens, and support
for use in IEP meetings and parent-child
communication
• Projectors for IEP meetings, seminars, and staff
professional development
• A detailed architectural and engineering analysis
(including review of walls, windows, roofs,
foundation, interior circulation and finishes, life
safety/code analysis and compliance, building
use/program/square foot analysis, septic and
sewage treatment analysis, mechanical systems,
electrical system and power supply, plumbing
fixtures and supply, and lighting) which will
serve as a five- to seven-year planning and
review document for the Facilities Committee
• Resurfacing of the pool in the Murray Family
Aqua Therapy Center
• Mechanical plan and installation of HVAC
system for School gymnasium
• Book categorization software for the School
library
• Special shipping scale to allow Graphics
department to accurately ship orders to
customers via UPS
• Offset additional costs to clear snow and ice on
campus and at our Open Community homes
from two back-to-back historic snow storms this
past winter
• Wii Fit systems and Sports packages for the
Open Community homes and School dormitories
to increase indoor recreation opportunities
during winter months and inclement weather
• Concession stand equipment (hot dog and bun
steamer, stainless steel cart, nacho machine, and
condiment center) for the Day Activities Center
to use out in the community at large when raising
awareness and funds for their special projects
• Our March 31, 2010, Forum on Aging for
People with Intellectual Disabilities with
Matthew P. Janicki. Ph.D.
• A comprehensive marketing study by the
Hatcher Group to assess our current methods
and identify opportunities to enhance and
upgrade our student recruitment efforts
