husband, she married <strong>in</strong> 1658, Elizur Holyoke <strong>of</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>gfield, Mass.<br />
grandfa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> President Holyoke <strong>of</strong> Harvard College. To that<br />
town she removed with a part <strong>of</strong> her family, and died <strong>the</strong>re Oct.<br />
24, 1688, hav<strong>in</strong>g survived her last husband, who died Feb. 6, 1676^<br />
In <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>register</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>descendants</strong> <strong>of</strong> Thomas, <strong>the</strong> ancestor<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>gfield branch, will first be given, and <strong>the</strong>n <strong>of</strong> John,<br />
<strong>the</strong> ancestor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Hartford branch.<br />
To each name a number is attached which it reta<strong>in</strong>s under all<br />
circumstances and by which it may always be dist<strong>in</strong>guished from<br />
every o<strong>the</strong>r. For <strong>the</strong> sake <strong>of</strong> add<strong>in</strong>g new names not at present<br />
known, and also <strong>of</strong> mak<strong>in</strong>g it easy to tell at a glance how many<br />
children <strong>the</strong>re were <strong>in</strong> a family, <strong>the</strong> number<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> each family ord<strong>in</strong>arily<br />
beg<strong>in</strong>s with a decimal. In some cases <strong>the</strong>re are still wider<br />
gaps. Those known to have died are designated by a star. It is<br />
scarcely necessary to mention that b. signifies born ;<br />
d., died, and m., married.<br />
