20, 1725, who d. April 8, 1780, aged 76. He d. Aug. 25, 1780,
aged 79. On his grave stone in the Westchester Society is the
following inscription :
Death Reigns.
This stone stands to memorialize the death and burial of the aged,
humane and pious Deacon John Day, who in the 80th year of his
age and on August 2.5, 1780 quitted this mortal and entered on the
immortal state.
An honest man (rare to be found,)
Lies buried deep within this ground.
Whose soul to God has winged her flight,
And dwells in everlasting light.
