Thanksgiving Dinner - Nov. 25, 2009 Gayle Kaschuk, Charlie & Lil Spanton _____________________________________________________________________ Thanksgiving Dinner turned out to be perfect … once we solved the problem of the meat slicer (thanks go to Ian Denholm & Bruce Johnston for taking the time to help) … once we solved the problem of the warming oven, which after 3 hours was not warm (we ended up using the new roasters to keep everything warm - thanks, Rita for your timely suggestion) … once we realized how long it takes for the stove burners to heat to maximum - do not turn them off while cooking!!! We know now!!! A special thanks to Irene Landry and Steve Kaschuk for the wonderful job on our tables; our servers, Jean & Gary Lipscombe, Paul and Joanne DesRoches, Betty & Roddie Manning, Irene & Omer Landry. Thanks to Helen Foster, Jean Granger, Bonnie Oliver and Marg & Bruce Johnston for cutting and setting up the pies; Pat Lynch who came early to clean the pots as fast as we dirtied them and Judy & Don McMillan and John Fowler for finishing them. We couldn’t have done it without you. Brunch - Dec. 5, 2009 Submitted by Ian Denholm _____________________________________________________________________ We served 151 people what we believe was a very good meal of sausages, ham, beans, potatoes and eggs. To those who have not been involved with running a function, may not know how much work is done by these volunteers. Serving food for 2+ hours takes 3 days of work (shopping, cooking & serving). To that I would like to thank Barry Furey, Lynn Oliver, and Bruce Johnston for their time shopping, chopping onions and potatoes the day before. Thanks to all the cooks - Paul B, John F, Milo P, Bill P, Alex K, runner Bob H plus the 3 already mentioned. To the servers Rita d, Sue F, Marg J, Bonnie O, Helen B, Kathy S, and Sharon H, a special thanks.
