hosts this half-hour of prayer.

The Knights of Columbus, Council 451, located at 601 Reed
Rd., is sponsoring their monthly All You Can Eat Fish Fry on
Friday, June 3, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The cost is $7.00 for
adults and $3.00 for 12 years of age and under. Fish, two sides
and beverage are included. All are welcome to attend.
FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH-DEVOTIONS & ROSARY
Saturday, June 4, before & after the 8:00 a.m. Saturday
morning Mass, a Rosary will be recited with special devotional
prayers for the First Saturday of the Month.

The St. Charles Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul

The Knights of Columbus, Anthony Wayne Assembly,
will be collecting torn, ragged, faded, ripped and tattered
American Flags during the month of May. There will be a
collection box in the back of church for this purpose. The
old flags will be disposed of in the proper and patriotic
manner on Flag Day, June 14, 7:00 p.m. at the K of C
Council 451, 601 Reed Road. Flags will be collected thru
June 12.

PARISH CHILDREN’S CHOIR
A “Parish Children’s Choir” will be organized this fall for all
children of the parish grades 2-6. The choir will meet on
Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. beginning in September
and will sing for parish liturgies throughout the school year, most
often on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. once per month, on Christmas
Eve, and some others to be determined. This choir will expand on
what has been the annual Christmas Eve children’s choir. If you
are interested in having your child/children participate, please

AFTERNOON OF REFLECTION
An Afternoon of Reflection will be held on Sunday, June 19,
1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Queen of Angels Church, 1500 W. State
Blvd., F.W. This year time will be spent focusing on the upcoming
new English translation of the Mass, with some related Lectio
Divina.
There are no fees but registration by Wed., June 15, is required.

ST. CHARLES PARISH is invited to the Ordination of the
Sacred Order of Presbyter of Matthew Coonan and Terrence
Coonan, through the Imposition of Hands and the Invocation of
the Holy Spirit by Bishop Kevin Rhoades on Saturday, June 11,
11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Fr. Matthew Coonan’s Mass of Thanksgiving will be at St.

Coonan’s Mass of Thanksgiving will be on Sunday, June 12, 2:00
p.m. Receptions to follow each Mass. Fr. Terrence (Tink) Coonan
spent the summer at St. Charles four years ago.

PRE-SCHOOL SUNDAY SCHOOL
HELP! Several teachers are needed for the fall, 2011 Sunday
Religious Education program. The children meet each Sunday
during the 9:00 a.m. Mass in the school building. Classes are not
held on holidays or school breaks. Will you please prayerfully
consider giving an hour to the Lord each week from the end of
September through the end of April? Adults and high school
students interested in more information can call Kathy, 482-5477.
Our parish is only as strong as its programs. Your involvement
means we can continue to offer programs for our young children
ages 3 through kindergarten.
SCRIP NEWS
Schedule Note: There are NO SCRIP sales this weekend as we
celebrate Memorial Day, remembering those who have made the
ultimate sacrifice while serving their country. Please feel free to
drop your order in the collection basket this weekend; it will be
filled on Tuesday, May 31 and available for pick-up on Tuesday
after 2:00 p.m. DO NOT leave an order in the black mailboxes this
week.
The last day of school for St. Charles is Friday, June 3. Friday
morning sales will take place that day at the normal time, 8:00 a.m.
-9:00 a.m. Starting Friday, June 10, the time for Friday morning
sales will change to 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.
Summer Hours: The SCRIP office is open on Mondays during the
summer to fill orders dropped in the collection basket and phone
orders, and to place our inventory order. We are usually there from
8:00 a.m. until noon.
If you are in need of a large amount of SCRIP gift certificates, such
as Lands End, Lowes, Menards, Walgreens, etc. it is extremely
helpful for you to notify the SCRIP office before 9:00 a.m. Monday
morning. (Even if you simply leave a message on the answering
machine.) The gift certificates would then be available by Thursday
of that week. Failure to let us know by 9:00 a.m. Monday morning
will result in a one-week delay in receiving your desired gift cards.
If we have the gift cards in our inventory, we will obviously fill the
order immediately, but this often results in being depleted in this
item at our next sale.

Germanfest at St. Peter’s
On Sunday, June 5, at 11:00 a.m. St. Peter’s will open
Germanfest with a German Mass celebrated by Fr. Charles
Herman. The Fort Wayne Mannerchor and Dammenchor will
provide the German music. After Mass a dinner of bratwurst,
sauerkraut, German potato salad, kuchen and beverage will be
served in the Pavilion. The cost is, $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for
children 6 to 12, those under 6 are free.
Bishop Dwenger Saints Open Golf Outing is scheduled for
Friday, June 17, at Chestnut Hills Golf Course. Registration
begins at 12:00 p.m., with Florida Scramble start at 1:00 p.m. Cost
is $90 per person or $360 per team. Proceeds benefit the school’s
