Re: School Tuition Grants<br />

Your July envelope packet contains an additional envelope<br />

which may be used for this purpose. Those who have the<br />

financial means and those who have raised their children, but<br />

perhaps could not give adequately when their children were<br />

attending Catholic schools, are encouraged to contribute. This<br />

school year, 2013-2014, over $140,000 will be used to help<br />

families pay for partial or full scholarships.<br />

St. <strong>Charles</strong> <strong>Borromeo</strong> School <strong>st</strong>udents are <strong>st</strong>rongly encouraged to<br />

keep reading throughout the summer. Great programs are<br />

available through Allen County Public Library at our local<br />

Georgetown branch. La<strong>st</strong> summer our <strong>st</strong>udents showed great<br />

improvement and came close to being the mo<strong>st</strong> frequent readers;<br />

let's do even better this year!<br />

Students may take Accelerated Reader (AR) te<strong>st</strong>s throughout the<br />

CONGRATULATIONS to CHARLIE WAMPLER who ju<strong>st</strong><br />

completed second grade in our parish grade school. Charlie is the<br />

recipient of the Karen Koors Achievement Award, which is a<br />

monetary scholarship, presented in memory of Mrs. Karen Koors,<br />

a very kindhearted parishioner who worked as a longtime teacher’s<br />

helper in our school’s primary grades until becoming ill with cancer.<br />

In her memory, her husband, Edmund, has e<strong>st</strong>ablished the<br />

achievement award given annually to one of our second grade<br />

<strong>st</strong>udents who has demon<strong>st</strong>rated a “Jesus attitude” along with solid<br />

academic effort. Thank you to Mr. Koors and, again,<br />
