St. Charles Parish has a “Prayer Blanket” ministry. Small lap
blankets have been made by ladies in our parish and they are
available (at no cost) to anyone who is ill or going through
troubling times. These blankets come with a prayerful note in
hopes of bringing comfort to those in need. Please stop by the

There is a prayer group at St. Charles addressing the problem of
fallen-away Catholics. The Friends of St. Monica Prayer Group
offers prayers for people to return to the Catholic Church. The
devotion begins with the St. Monica Novena and the recitation of
the Holy Rosary.

The Widows of Prayer invite widows of St.
Charles to a Mass for your husbands at St.
Mary’s Church, downtown Fort Wayne, on the
second Wednesday of each month. You are
invited to join us this Wednesday, July 10, at
9:30 a.m. A short meeting to follow the Mass. Any

Summer conditioning runs for current and potential Cardegle
cross country runners will begin Monday, July 8, and continue
Monday and Wednesday evenings at 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at
Shoaff Park. Open to 5th thru 8th grade boys and girls. Parent
participation is welcome and encouraged. Participation is
voluntary and emphasis is on building fitness and having fun.

St. Charles Football practice will start on Monday, August 5,
6:00 p.m. for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade football players.

of Church. This magazine will cover topics motivating your student
and growing in faith and service.
Re: School Tuition Grants
Your July envelope packet contains an additional envelope
which may be used for this purpose. Those who have the
financial means and those who have raised their children, but
perhaps could not give adequately when their children were
attending Catholic schools, are encouraged to contribute. This
school year, 2013-2014, over $140,000 will be used to help
families pay for partial or full scholarships.
St. Charles Borromeo School Students Read
St. Charles Borromeo School students are strongly encouraged to
keep reading throughout the summer. Great programs are
available through Allen County Public Library at our local
Georgetown branch. Last summer our students showed great
improvement and came close to being the most frequent readers;
let's do even better this year!
Students may take Accelerated Reader (AR) tests throughout the
summer at the school library. See the schedule noted below.
During the morning library times, students may also check books
out and return them to the school library with Mrs. Fisher. During
these morning times, students may register to receive prizes
which are available at each session with a grand prize at the end
of summer! AR points earned over the summer count for the first
quarter of the next school year.

CONGRATULATIONS to CHARLIE WAMPLER who just
completed second grade in our parish grade school. Charlie is the
recipient of the Karen Koors Achievement Award, which is a
monetary scholarship, presented in memory of Mrs. Karen Koors,
a very kindhearted parishioner who worked as a longtime teacher’s
helper in our school’s primary grades until becoming ill with cancer.
In her memory, her husband, Edmund, has established the
achievement award given annually to one of our second grade
students who has demonstrated a “Jesus attitude” along with solid
academic effort. Thank you to Mr. Koors and, again,
