Launch of the FTSE/ASE 140 Index
(2/1/2003): On 2.1.2003 the Athens
Exchange in cooperation with FTSE
Group launched new benchmark index
covering the Greek market, the FTSE /
ASE 140 Index. It comprises the 140
stocks of the existing FTSE / ASE 20
(blue chips), FTSE / ASE Mid cap 40
(medium capitalisation) and FTSE /
ASE Smallcap 80 (small capitalisation)
indices. The new index will be
calculated every trading day in real
time, and will be reviewed twice a year
in April and October.
Launch of the FTSE/ASE
Mediterranean 100 Index
(19/6/2003): Athens Exchange, Tel-
Aviv Stock Exchange and Cyprus
Stock Exchange launched the joint
stock market index, FTSE
Mediterranean 100. The new FTSE
Med-100 Index started its operation on
19.6.2003. FTSE Med 100 is the first
index of that kind, i.e. an index that
includes shares of more than one stock

exchange and is calculated in real time.
The calculation will be realised in real
time from 09:45 until 17:00 (Greece)
and is distributed every single minute.
The FTSE-Med 100 Index is composed
of 100 stocks of the three Exchanges,
some of which are also listed on US
and other European stock markets.
Law 3152/19-6-2003: ‘Establishment
and supervision of Stock Markets and
organised markets, new tasks of the
Capital Market Commission and
amendments of legislation concerning
the capital market’.
Government Bonds Market
(29/5/2003): The operation of the
Government Bonds market
commenced on the Athens Exchange
(ATHEX), through the trading of Fixed
Income Securities, issued by the Greek
Government, into the Integrated
Automated Electronic Trading System
(OASIS).
