MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
SCHOOL BOARD
Early this year, a steering committee was convened
with the purpose of establishing a parish school
board at OLGC. In collaboration with Fr. Brendan and
myself, parents and parishioners worked on clarifying
and drafting the functions of the board; defining the
roles and responsibilities of board members; developing
board documentation, including a constitution. At
the end of July, parents and parishioners were invited
to express their interest in becoming a member of the
new board. In August, an information session was
convened to outline the responsibilities of the board.
From there, interested parties were selected and invited
to join the board.
It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you the
OLGC Parish School Board: Bernadette Roberts;
Amy Choi; Anthony Rodbard-Bean; Jocelyn Ng; Daniela
Katsiamakis; Jon Purcell.
I look forward to building an effective working relationship
with the board members over the next two
years. Along with Fr Brendan, we will commit to ensuring
that the parish and
school work in partnership, in
the provision of Catholic Education
in the parishes of Our
THE NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY FEAST DAY - 8 SEPTEMBER
The Feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been celebrated
in the Church at least since the 8th Century. The birth of Mary was miraculous.
She was conceived without sin as a special grace because
God had selected her to become the mother of His Son
Lord God,
the day of our salvation dawned
when the Blessed Virgin gave birth to your Son.
As we celebrate her nativity
grant us your grace and your peace.
The games have been fun and we have been learning while we do the games. Josh
Each week we get a mission to do at home that helps us to learn further about behaviours. Charlotte
We have played um/err ball, dolphin tiggy, the playdoh game, elephant head and the listening game where
you had to make an icy pole design exactly the same as your partners without seeing it. Lucy M
INTERNET SAFETY PRESENTATION HELPS CHILDREN STAY SAFE ONLINE
WEDNESDAY 10 OCTOBER 7:00PM - 8:30PM
OLGC ATRIUM
Young people today are immersed in digital technologies. They use the internet and mobile phones to socialise,
study, exchange ideas and play. While online activity has many benefits, there are also risks.
To help your children stay safe online, Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School is hosting a Cybersmart
Outreach—Internet Safety Awareness presentation. Designed for parents, teachers and students, this
presentation is provided by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (the ACMA) as part of a national
program of cybersmart initiatives.
Thank you so much to all the families who were able to come and share in the Fathers’ Day Breakfast
the roster of volunteers to help the children
select some lovely gifts for the Dads.
There was a lot of excitement at the pick-up as
the goodies were taken home.
It was early starts all round as children and
Dads were dispatched to school on Friday for
the 7:30am kick-off of the Annual Father's Day
Breakfast. Our wonderful teachers, lead by
Mrs Hose, had rolled up at 6:00am to lay on a
fabulous breakfast and entertainment for the
families. At 9:00am the children went up for
their classes and some of the fathers made
their way to Greenacres Golf Course, where
Brendan Egan had arranged the annual Father's
