The Student Referral Group is a team within the school including the Individual Needs Coordinator, Student
Wellbeing Coordinator, School Counsellor and Deputy Principal or Principal. This group meets on a weekly
basis to monitor and review referrals made by class teachers or from an external agency.
The referral process is as follows:
The classroom teacher initiates referral.
This referral is presented to the Student Support Group by the coordinator for consultation.
The support group, parents, class teacher and other relevant professionals meet.
The support group devises strategies and sets goals.
The support group then sets up a review process.
Where necessary, a referral is made to the Catholic Education Office or to an outside agency.
YOU CAN DO IT (YCDI)
The "You Can Do It!" program aims to provide all students with the Foundations for Achievement. Through a
series of Program Achieve Lessons student are introduced to the skills that promote social and emotional
well-being in school, work, and the world of tomorrow. The core value of this program is to develop the potential
of all students (academically, intellectually, interpersonally and emotionally). It does this through instilling
in students an understanding of 5 important foundations - Confidence, Persistence, Organisation, Resilience
and Getting Along. Research indicates that these foundations determine the extent to which students
achieve, and experience, social and emotional well-being.
