MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING PRINCIPAL
As part of the lunchtime program we offer the following:
Monday - Split lunch
Tuesday - Fitness Club (seniors)
Wednesday - Choir; Library
Thursday - Science Club; Library; Fitness club (seniors)
Friday - Split lunch
This allows students a variety of activities and frees up
space on the playground areas.
Last week we implemented a system to ensure the safety
of students while playing football at playtimes: -
At recess everyday Level 1 and 2 students are permitted
to kick the football on the lower grass area.
At lunch on Tues, Wed, Thurs, Level 3 & 4 students
are permitted to kick the ball on the lower grass area.
Mondays and Fridays are split lunch.
The other play areas of the basketball court, asphalt
areas, Atrium and the Playground equipment are still
open to students to play non kicking games.
We are trialling this system and will ask the students for
feedback before Term 3 to ascertain its successful.
ASSEMBLY
Last week’s assembly saw Year 6 present their suggestions
for achieving the skill of Confidence. They were
entertaining and showed confidence as they performed.
Well done!. Next Friday Level 3 will present more strategies
in developing confidence Please find award recipients
on the following pages. We continue to pray for Mrs
Hilbert for a speedy recovery and look forward to her
return in Term 3. Thank you parents for joining us on
Friday mornings.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
HAVE YOU BOOKED AN INTERVIEW TIME?
Following the issue of Semester 1 Reports on Friday, 24
June, interviews will be held on Monday, 27 June. This
year bookings will be organised via an online booking service
www.school interviews.com.au. Bookings are now
opened. If any family needs assistance with this process,
please don’t hesitate to contact the Office. Please make
sure that you hove booked on interview with your child's
teacher so as to share the learning that has happened this
semester and to discuss their future learning.

LAMINATING HELP REQUIRED
Does anyone happen to know of someone (possibly a school
or organisation in the area) who has access to a large laminator
for the likes of posters bigger than A3.
I am more than happy to pay for any costs such as laminating
film, and can drop off and pick up.

Good luck to the children who are competing in the Regional Cross
Country at Yarra Glen. It is fantastic to have so many students running

REVIEW
The review of the provision of Catholic Education in the Parishes of
Our Lady of Good Counsel and All Hallows is well under way. The
committee visited the school last week to look at the facilities.
Please remember recommendations will be accepted by the committee
until 30 June.

Robert Cochrane Kindergarten,
Hawthorn is celebrating its centenary
this year.
To commemorate this occasion, children’s author
and current kinder parent Emily Gale has teamed
with illustrator and former kinder parent Peta Kowalski
and current and former kindergarten children
to produce a wonderful, 32-page, fully illustrated
counting book All the way to 100, which incorporates
counting from 1- 100 in a journey through a
day at the kinder together with the history of Robert
Cochrane Kindergarten.

DISCO THIS FRIDAY!
We hope everyone is excited about the upcoming disco on Friday night. If you have lost your information and permission
slip, pick one up from outside the school office. Please get any last minute RSVP’s in ASAP!
Dress
The children can wear whatever they like and are encourages to dress up, wear a mask, wear funky hair. Whatever they
are comfortable in. Just remember it does get hot dancing around.
Drop off and pick up arrangements
All children (and volunteers) are to enter through the Art Room where they will be marked as present from our master
lists. Before entering, the children will line up outside the Art Room and security volunteers will maintain order and ensure
they are safe while waiting to enter. The Junior Disco will commence at 5pm. The Senior Disco will commence
at 7pm.
At the conclusion of each Disco, the children will line up with their class and parents invited into the Atrium to take their
children home. Exit will be only via the Atrium Doors. No child will be permitted to leave the school premises unless a
parent (or person designated in writing as having authority to pick up your child) has picked them up.
Volunteers
We have again had a fantastic response to our request for volunteers, so a very big thank you to all the mums and dads
who were happy to assist. There is still room for more helpers so let us know if you can help out on the night for either the
Junior Disco the Senior Disco or both! All volunteers will be contacted this week to tell them what task has been assigned
to them.
All parents with a rostered volunteer job will be wearing bright yellow vests with the school logo in the top left hand corner.
Please tell your child/ren that if they have any questions or problems during the evening they should talk to an adult
wearing a bright yellow vest.
Drinks for the children
Unlimited water and cordial will be available for the children throughout the disco. Children should eat dinner before they
arrive, as only drinks will be provided throughout the Disco.
No Smoke machine
Some of the smaller children were frightened last year when the smoke alarms went off due to the smoke from the smoke
machine. Please reassure them that there will be no smoke this year to avoid this happening.
Chill out area
This year we will have a quiet area set aside in the Performing Arts hall where the children can go and have some quiet
time and do some drawing/colouring activities, if they wish to have a break from dancing. NB : this will be for the Junior
disco only.
Flashies
The children will be provided with a flashie each and some glow sticks as part of their entry price. There are no flashies
for sale at the disco. Therefore there is no need to bring any money. There will be loads of prizes for all sorts of things. So
dress up, put on your dancing shoes and come and have some fun
