Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish Primary School serves the parish of Deepdene and Balwyn. Its core
mission is to develop the potential of each person and foster Gospel values through the nurturing of
mind, body and soul.
At the heart of our school are our students who are exploring and discovering their place in the world
and the meaning of their lives. In our school this discovery is undertaken within the specific
perspective of the Catholic faith. Students are invited to bring their worlds into dialogue with the
Catholic faith and to grow in understanding of both life and faith.
As a learning community this school connects learning and living, with a contemporary approach to
Catholic education. With students central to everything we do, this school provides relevant, and
authentic experiences that support personalised learning. In this way OLGC is responsive to the
individual learning needs and overall wellbeing of students and provides developmentally appropriate
programs and activities that enable students to achieve high quality learning outcomes.
By working in diverse and flexible spaces, this school ensures safe, nurturing, and stimulating
environments where students are challenged in their learning. Students are supported by explicit and
scaffolded teaching to engage fully in their learning and to foster collaboration and creativity.
Learning thrives through access to contemporary resources, utilising current research and proven
practice.
Leaders and the school community work in partnership with the parish around the five pillars of
Learning, Worship, Outreach, Stewardship and Participation, to develop a strong Catholic culture.
Relationships are built in the local and global community, and learning is enhanced where students
inquire about the world in which they live.
OLGC values the uniqueness of each individual. All members of this school and parish are called to
