day operations consist <strong>of</strong> providing highly visible and proactive patrols by uniformed <strong>of</strong>ficers,<br />
animal control agent, investigative services detectives, and communication specialist who<br />
operate the public safety answering point (E-911 Center) for Fire & Rescue, and Police<br />
services.<br />
The <strong>Manassas</strong> <strong>Park</strong> Police department will handle approximately 25,000 calls for service this<br />
year. In keeping with its mission, the agency seeks to build an environment to enhance public<br />
safety and reduce the fear <strong>of</strong> crime through several programs and initiatives including<br />
programs such as the Neighborhood Watch, School <strong>Resource</strong> Officers, D.A.R.E., and Crime<br />
Solvers. Two school resource <strong>of</strong>ficers are assigned to both the middle and high school to build<br />
partners with the students to aid in crime prevention. The summertime “Do Away With<br />
Gangs” or “D.A.W.G.” community program is geared towards keeping children occupied<br />
through positive activities.<br />

COMMUNITY USE FACILITIES<br />
A number <strong>of</strong> city facilities are available for use by community groups and individuals. For<br />

PARKS AND RECREATION BUILDING<br />
This facility may be utilized for meetings, classes, parties, gym activities, recreations and<br />
numerous other activities. The gym, activity room and two classrooms are available, subject<br />
to planned recreational schedules in effect at the time. Seating and tables for 150 are<br />

PARKS, FIELDS, AND PICNIC FACILITIES<br />
<strong>Manassas</strong> <strong>Park</strong> residents may reserve these facilities on a first come, first served basis. Their<br />
availability is subject to scheduled <strong>Park</strong>s and Recreation programs in effect at the time and<br />
local and school athletic needs and schedules. To reserve, please call 703-335-8872.<br />
STONEHOUSE<br />
This facility is located in Costello <strong>Park</strong>. The Stonehouse is limited in availability to local civic<br />
and pr<strong>of</strong>essional meetings only. Scheduling <strong>of</strong> this facility is administered through the<br />
