Beware the Bitterness of Backsliding

Test the motives of your actions. Are they truly divinely
inspired? One tiny compromise often leads to another
and another until the conscience is seared.
With the relationship now over, I realize that it was
a counterfeit. The old boyfriend was sent by the
devil to be an “anti-Christ” (in place of Christ) in my
heart and life. Though knowing that secular music is
not something a Christian should listen to, I feasted
upon songs from “Bread” and “The Carpenters” at
my boyfriend’s request. I realized later the hideous
counterfeits: the Bread of death instead of the Bread of
Life; the Carpenters instead of The Carpenter.
Though the enemy was not successful in trapping me
permanently, he continues to laugh at my distress and
misery. Please don’t let it happen to you. You are
precious in God’s sight. Nothing (and no one) is worth
missing Heaven. The race is almost over; we are
almost Home. Let’s not stumble so close to the finish
line.
Here is a poem that is both sobering and encouraging:
If we continue to endure things that are impure,
the very things we first abhor we may one day adore.
Likewise, lies accepted with an apathetic face,
we may one day actually embrace.
So, flee at the first hint of evil,
as if the devil himself is on your track.
Let’s turn from E-V-I-L to L-I-V-E.
And never, ever look back!
