To the class of 2010, we say: Congratulations! You made it! There is every reason to have an enormous amount of satisfaction at your success. You have worked hard, faced challenges, and perhaps been overwhelmed at times. But now, you have reached your first peak - we hope you have many more. As exciting as graduation is, it always comes with a barrage of questions about what your next steps will be. Don’t worry about that. What truly matters is that you make the decision to face new challenges and experiences until you “figure it all out,” but make sure you experience it – successes, failures, everything! For it is with each new encounter that you will grow and thrive. No one knows what’s installed for each one of you or what experiences lay ahead, but the best you can do is put yourselves out there and do your utmost. As graduates of Al Mawakeb, in many ways, you’re prepared for what’s to come. Your school has prepared you for life’s challenges because each one of you embodies focal characteristics that are key ingredients to success: spirit, character and a sense of community. The Al Mawakeb spirit instilled in all of you transcends beyond sports and competitions. It drives you to do your best in everything you set your mind to do – school work, friendships forged, competitions, sports… Over the year, your school has instilled character in you. You’ve all spent time learning in and out of the classroom, forming friendships, interacting with your teachers, being active in clubs, showing leadership, playing sports and competing in all kinds of contests. All of these activities have served to build your character by establishing a strong sense of right and wrong, a greater perspective on life, and a better understanding of other people and yourselves. This kind of character will help you to experience life’s future triumphs and hardships with dignity and courage. You’re all now lifetime members of the Al Mawakeb community. Over the next few years, college, jobs and relationships will pull you all in different directions. Although you may see much less of each other, you’ll always have something in common: a sense of belonging to the place that has come to be known as your second home. This applies for all alumni who can now all relate to each other’s experiences here. So the next time you’re out there and life becomes stressful, scary or impossible, rest assured, take a shot – we’ll be pulling for you. The Al Mawakeb community is your community: support it, enjoy it, and lean on it when you need it. We have prepared you for what’s to come in many ways. Let the preparation, love and support from your family, friends and Al Mawakeb be your drive to put yourselves out there and take your shots.
To the first graduating class at ISAS... It was September of 2007 when the International School of Arts and Sciences - ISAS opened its doors for the first time, drawing parents and students from different regions of the world. They came, they saw, and they believed in us... As they get ready to leave us, we return their faith and match it with pride. To the first graduating class at ISAS, Class of 2010, In 2007, you believed in us...In 2010, we believe in you... You came here faced with many challenges. You met them, and you exceeded them. We set a high standard...you raised it... You set a plan. You looked around and knew it was time to build your home. Your persevering spirit was unleashed. You showed us that you don’t go to ISAS to accomplish something; you go to ISAS to be somebody. You created unique memories – those that only a FIRST graduating class can have. You came to us with different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs and goals, but in no time, you all came to embody one harmonious identity that now shapes what ISAS is all about. Everything here started with you, but it doesn’t end here. ISAS Class of 2010, you, who come from all walks of life, today you get to taste the fruit of your hard work and dedication. Today, we celebrate you. Continue to make us proud. Soon, you will become the first group of alumni to graduate from the International School of Arts and Sciences. An enticing journey awaits you, one that is fuelled with the knowledge, love, kindness and respect which you came to acquire through our experiences together at ISAS.
