is good that you do not pronounce some names, and even try to forget them. One should
not revive the vibrations outlived long ago.
152. Naturally, We have nothing against ancient objects so long as their aura is good,
but a person should not look at them through the prism of his past. We are well aware
that perfection is attained not by plunging into the past but by irrepressible striving into
the future. Especially now We are advising that seekers transfer their entire
consciousness into the future and thus avoid the many snares set by past existences.
153. In hoary antiquity incense was used in order to ascertain the aura of an object. It
was assumed that objects with good auras would be saturated with incense, while bad
radiations would block absorption of this botanical manifestation. Later on, incense came
to be used in temples as a means of strengthening the Subtle World and bringing it
nearer. Actually one of incense’s properties is its ability to strengthen the vitality of the
Subtle World. It is used at funerals to help the deceased, who has just crossed the
borderline, to maintain consciousness and also to free him from the drowsy condition
usual for someone who is unprepared. Such details of the ancient knowledge have been
totally forgotten, as has the significance of various fragrances. Not only has the
manufacture of perfumes lost the meaning it had in ancient times, but also out of
ignorance extremely harmful combinations are often being used. The knowledge I am
conveying, when elaborated by extensive research, will open up an entire domain for
useful application in everyday life. In antiquity the use of aromas was joined to a
knowledge of healing. The priests explained how to make use of aromas and in what
cases to apply them. So without resorting to sorcery, one can follow a whole system of
healing based on inhalation and nourishment of the nervous system by rubbing aromatic
substances into the skin. In this sense the ancients saw far deeper than the skin’s surface.
Inseparable from the subject of aromas is the concept of our emanations, but this field
has hardly been studied either. Every time research on various emanations is made
public, it invariably encounters the charge of “charlatanism.” Likewise every subtler
sensation is sure to meet with mistrust—as if all the diversity of nature were not calling
out for greater refinement!
154. Let us not forget to sound the call to battle. Let us not grow tired of summoning
the warriors to the sword, the sword that will give peace to the world. We are not thereby
affirming intimidation; rather, the manifestation of achievement is necessary as
nourishment for the spirit.
155. There are many occult books, but the majority of them cannot serve much
purpose now. The main reason is that in everything they only take into account some
special “chosen” people. But Our Teaching has in mind all, all, all! Only these calls to all
the world can replace abstract ethics with the Teaching of Life.
156. When the world becomes tense, the spiritual armor of the closest coworkers
grows stronger, and their radiation grows purple and fiery. So the cosmic armor comes to
correspond to worldwide conditions independently of personal feelings and day-to-day
