1. The B<strong>at</strong>tle of USS “Kearsarge” and CSS “Alabama” by Edouard Manet<br />
B<strong>at</strong>tle took place off <strong>the</strong> coast of France 1864, captured Manet’s imagin<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
The defe<strong>at</strong>ed Confeder<strong>at</strong>e commerce raider <strong>the</strong> Alabama eventually ended up in<br />
<strong>the</strong> Philadelphia Navy Yard with o<strong>the</strong>r captured blockade runners.<br />
The Alabama was renamed New Hampshire during <strong>the</strong> war.<br />
