at £15 per sq ft. The leasor was a

MCR Property Group has secured three
lettings at Brook House and a further
letting at Wellington House in
Manchester. Euro London (1,411 sq ft), CB
Richard Ellis (1,819 sq ft) and Gray Scanlan
Hill (1,310 sq ft) have all signed up to
Brook House (40,000 sq ft) on five-year
leases at £12.50 per sq ft. At Wellington
House, on Piccadilly Gardens, MCR has
let 3,427 sq ft to Passenger Focus on a
five-year lease at £16 per sq ft. CBRE
and WHR are joint agents on both
schemes.
Property Alliance Group has agreed a
15,750 sq ft pre-let to Mott MacDonald at
Spring Bank House in Altrincham. A 15year
lease has been granted at around
£20 per sq ft. DTZ acted for Mott
MacDonald.
Wilmslow-based Orbit Developments
has secured a letting at its Parkway
Business Centre in South Manchester.
Potters Ltd, a herbal medicines
manufacturer, has signed a 10-year
lease with Orbit and acquired the 4,171
sq ft third floor of Parkway 5, the
newest building at the development.
Bruntwood has pre-let 17,158 sq ft to
building consultancy Faber Maunsell at
its 1 New York Street office
development in Manchester city centre.
Faber Maunsell will move into 1 New
York Street when the building
completes in September 2009, and is
currently taking space at Bruntwood’s
Lowry House, also in Manchester.
Cibitas has taken the lease on a second
floor suite at Century House in St
Peter’s Square, Manchester, from
landlord Mosley Street Ventures.
Annual rent on the 1,511 sq ft unit is

Urban Splash has secured several
lettings at its Ducie House office
building in Manchester. Shareholders
United has taken a lease on 169 sq ft at
an annual rent is £5,040; 257 has taken

Univar Ltd has assigned its existing lease

per sq ft. Univar has relocated to group

to work in partnership with the council
in order to deliver a high quality one
stop information shop for older people.
Tenders are invited from organisations
able to demonstrate previous
experience of providing this type of
service. The contract will be awarded
covering the following: The information
shop will be open to the public Monday
through to Saturday, opening times to
be negotiated at the start of the
contract and will equate to 30 hours
per week. The service will be located in
a town centre setting with easy access
for the public. The approach is to have
a one stop shop holding information
about older people on a variety of areas
and will include information on the
council’s approved residential and
nursing care providers, sheltered
accommodation and extra care housing
schemes. As well as providing
information on statutory services, ie
Adult Services, local voluntary services
and practical services for older people
outside the statutory provision, the
shop will hold information on a wide
range of retail outlets for equipment,
pharmacy opening times and internet
shopping services. Tameside Council
has highlighted the need to increase
both the range and quality of free and
impartial information to enable
individuals to make informed choices
on relevant services that will enhance
their quality of life and enable them to
remain in their own homes
independently for as long as possible.
The provider of this service will have
responsibility for the continued
promotion and marketing of this
service over the duration of the
contract. Contract runs from April 2009

Cremators
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council
wishes to fit mercury
abatement/filtration equipment to its
cremators at Dukinfield Crematorium,
Ashton-under-Lyne, to comply with
Environmental Permitting Regulations
2007. Estimated cost £450,000
excluding VAT. The crematorium
building is a Grade II listed building, as
such all equipment must be installed
within the building and will take account
of and be sensitive to the status of the
building. There are currently three
cremators which were installed at the
crematorium in 2001. They are furnace
construction joule cremators. They
have natural gas fired primary and
secondary zone burners. We do not
envisage replacing these for another 15
years. The council wants to subject 100
per cent of its cremations to mercury
abatement. The work will be carried out
without disruption to the normal
running of the crematorium which
operates Monday to Friday. The
equipment must be such that should
filters fail the cremators revert to
PG5/02 (04) standards with regards to
all other emissions. Cremators must be
capable of operating independently and
be subject to mercury abatement. Full
maintenance and running costs will be
crucial in the council’s evaluation of the
project. Reporting requirements of
PG5/2(04) must be met in relation to
continuous reporting requirements. In
conjunction with the project the council
intends to fit heat exchangers to
capture the excess energy and power
the boiler system in the chapel and
hence provide local heat. This initiative
has received public and council support.
This will form part of the contract
between the council and the successful
contractor. We are seeking expressions
of interest from companies to carry out

Salford-based Ener-G equipped a
community heating system in London’s
Stratford Eye regeneration project, a
mixed use office and apartments
scheme overlooking the Olympics site
in East London, to use its tri-generation
technology to create its own cooling,
heating and electricity. Competitive
