Like mostChinese spend time with families during the MidautumnFestival, for many Americans, Thanksgivingis a time when all members of a family gather. Theholiday is a time of family reunion.Thanksgiving Day dates back to 1620, when asmall ship called Mayflower left Plymouth, England,carrying 102 passengers regarded as religiousseparatists in their country. 66 days of a treacherousand uncomfortable journey before they finally landednear the tip of Cape Cod in the North America.Suffering from extreme difficulties, the colonistsreceived huge help from Native Americans, whotaught them how to survive and live. In the next yearthe colonists and Indians shared an autumn harvestfeast, acknowledged as Thanksgiving today. EveryNovember people in the United States celebrate thisholiday in different ways, and Macy’s Thanksgiving DayParade is the most well known.With the first cry burst out of the chest, wewere born to the world with millions of possibilitiesahead. Everyone plays a role throughout our lifetime,connected to each other, just like fate. From a littlebaby to an adult human, we always receive care andsupport from others, and we should always be thankful.We are thankful to God, for giving us new birthinto a living hope.We are thankful to our parents, for bringing us tothe world and devoting all their love without asking forreturns.We are thankful to our mentors, for offeringknowledge and guiding our lives.We are thankful to our husband or wife, forstaying with us no matter what happens.We are thankful to our friends, for helping uswhen we are in difficulties and sharing the joy when wesucceed.We are thankful to our competitors, for making usbetter and stronger.We are truly blessed as being thankful andgrateful for everything we have.This November/December issue is publishedduring the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.And with the U.S. presidential election being held inNovember, SHANG Magazine is presenting relatedtopics in this issue.
