This year’s tournament fi lled both courses at Mile SquareGolf Course <strong>and</strong> far exceeded fundraising expectations, raising more than $75,000 in support <strong>of</strong> the Club’s awardwinningyouth services <strong>and</strong> programs.The success <strong>of</strong> this annual benefi t golf tournament can be attributed to such an outst<strong>and</strong>ing outpouring <strong>of</strong> communitysupport <strong>and</strong> committed corporate sponsors. Bosch, HID, <strong>and</strong> Panasonic served as Corporate level sponsors, whilemany other organizations participated at various levels to support the Club’s great programs for kids. Afew <strong>of</strong> the exciting events that kicked <strong>of</strong>f the summer <strong>of</strong> fun at the Club were:Day for Kids The <strong>Clubs</strong> kicked <strong>of</strong>f summer with its best ever turnout at the annual Day for Kidscelebration on Saturday, June 16th. The entire community was invited for this free, fun-fi lledfamily event held at the Kingston Branch. Afternoon activities included two bounce houses,performances by ClubHouse Academy students, a Kids’ Choice Cook<strong>of</strong>f with 9 participatinglocal restaurants, a Healthy Kids Fair with nearly 20 community health <strong>and</strong>safety organizations present, including the fi re department, <strong>and</strong> plenty<strong>of</strong> fun <strong>and</strong> games for the kids. More than 2,000 children <strong>and</strong> parentsshowed up to join in making a memorable day for the family!Western Round Up Club members captured the spirit <strong>of</strong> the Westwith an afternoon <strong>of</strong> cowboy <strong>and</strong> cowgirl inspired activities.Children were taught how to lasso a bull, ride in staged horse races<strong>and</strong> be a part <strong>of</strong> a western shootout. Prizes were given to those with thebest western themed costume. The highlight <strong>of</strong> the afternoon for all wasthe live petting zoo <strong>and</strong> pony rides.Sock Hop As a part <strong>of</strong> “Blast from the Past” week, the entireKingston Branch turned into a 50’s style diner <strong>and</strong> dancehall complete with root beer fl oats, music, a dance party<strong>and</strong> plenty <strong>of</strong> games <strong>and</strong> prizes. Using the new equipment for the fi rsttime, the Advanced Cast members <strong>of</strong> the ClubHouse Theatre put on afantastic production <strong>of</strong> “Kilroy Was Here,” a tribute to the brave men<strong>and</strong> women who served in World War II. Just in time for 4th <strong>of</strong> July,this production stirred the patriotic sensibilities <strong>of</strong> a packedaudience <strong>of</strong> 275 people. Save these dates: On October17-21, the ClubHouse Theatre will present “Ax <strong>of</strong> Murder”<strong>and</strong> on November 12-18, the ClubHouse Theatre willpresent “Don’t Say No to the USO.” The Club hopes youwill join the audiences <strong>of</strong> futureproductions <strong>and</strong> experienceour talentedkids’ upcomingperformances.MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY TODAY!The kids in our community need your support. These 40 luckychildren will get the chance to close out the summer with an exciting<strong>and</strong> memorable week fi lled with horseback riding, rock climbing,archery, arts & crafts, canoeing, hiking <strong>and</strong> much more! This annualscholarship opportunity gives the Club’s most disadvantagedchildren the same fun summer experiences thattheir more affl uent peers get to enjoy <strong>and</strong> is givenas a reward for good citizenship at the Club.The camp experience has been proven to buildchildren’s confi dence, help kids become moreindependent, <strong>and</strong> teach youthabout the environment.Past campers havecome back ravingabout their specialweek, with one littleboy exclaiming, “It wasthe week <strong>of</strong> my life!”
