ROSKI, JR.OWNERAs Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of one of the oldest and largest privatelyheld real estate <strong>com</strong>panies in the United States, Edward P. Roski, Jr.,took over ownership of the Los Angeles Kings with Philip F. Anschutz inOctober, 1995. Mr. Roski’s expertise in real estate development played akey role as he helped lead the L.A. Arena Company’s efforts to create STA-PLES Center in Los Angeles.His <strong>com</strong>pany, Southern California-based Majestic Reality Co., was built uponthe entrepreneurial vision of his father, Edward P. Roski, Sr., who foundedthe <strong>com</strong>pany in 1948. Majestic has long been a top developer in the area, owning more than 70 millionsquare feet of <strong>com</strong>mercial real estate across the United States.A graduate of the University of Southern California in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in financeand real estate, Mr. Roski served as an officer in the United States Marines from 1962 to 1966. Leiweke also played a major role in bringing such one-of-a-kindevents to Los Angeles and STAPLES Center as the 2000 Democratic National Convention, the 2002 United States FigureSkating Championships, the 2002 <strong>NHL</strong> All-Star Game, the 2004 NBA All-Star Game, the 42nd, 43rd, 44th and 46th AnnualGrammy Awards shows, the first ever Latin Grammy Awards and recurring events such as the Pac 10 BasketballChampionships and the X Games.Leiweke guided the creation of The Home Depot Center, built on the campus of California State University DominguezHills in Carson, California. The $150 million development features a 13,000-seat stadium for tennis, a 27,000-seat stadiumfor soccer and outdoor concerts, a 20,000-seat facility for track & field and the ADT Event Center, a 2,400-seatindoor velodrome and the recently announced David Beckham Academy and Agassi’s Safe Passage All Stars programs.Leiweke next turns his attention to overseeing and managing the creation of L.A. Live, a four million square foot / $2.5billion sports and entertainment district adjacent to STAPLES Center. The development, en<strong>com</strong>passing six city blocks,features NOKIA Theatre Los Angeles, a 7,100-seat state-of-the-art theatre, a 1000 room, 54-story convention “headquarters”hotel (<strong>com</strong>bining the Ritz Carlton & JW Marriott brands with 216 luxury condominiums in a single tower), ClubNokia, a 2,200 capacity live music venue, broadcast facilities for ESPN, a 15-screen Regal Cineplex along with residentialhousing, entertainment, parking, retail and office space which recently broke ground.Under Leiweke, AEG has also begun development of several projects in Europe and Asia. The <strong>com</strong>pany was recently selectedto fully develop the 28-acre Millennium Dome and adjacent property located in the eastern part of London along theThames River and will create The O2, a 23,000-seat arena and over 650,000 square feet of leisure and entertainment usewithin the “Dome’ and O2 World, an arena and multi-faceted sports and entertainment district on 45-acres in centralBerlin.Leiweke is credited with assembling an unprecedented partnership to create, produce and develop A New Day…, a theatricalproduction starring Celine Dion being performed exclusively at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Thedivision is also overseeing the international museum tour “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs,” a one-ofa-kindcollection of artifacts from ancient Egypt.In addition to the Los Angeles Kings and Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy, AEG Sport oversees professionalsports franchises such as the Chicago Fire, D.C. United and Houston Dynamo franchises of MLS, Los Angeles Riptide (MLL)the Manchester (New Hampshire) Monarchs (AHL), the Reading Royals (ECHL), and two professional ice hockey teams inEurope – the Berlin Eisbarons and Hamburg Freesers in addition to directing the operations of events such as the AmgenTour of California cycling road race, ING Bay to Breakers foot race (San Francisco) and international soccer exhibitionsheld in the United States. Leiweke also serves on the Los Angeles Lakers Board of Directors representing PhilipAnschutz’s 30% ownership stake in the Lakers and Sparks organizations.Leiweke has also initiated the formation and direction of the Kings Care Foundation, which in the last seven years, theKings Care Foundation, STAPLES Center Foundation, The Home Depot Foundation and AEG have pledged a <strong>com</strong>bined $10million to <strong>com</strong>munity organizations.Leiweke (pronounced LYE-wick-ee) has enjoyed an impressive history of success and experience in sports. Before movingto Los Angeles to join the Kings, he served as President and CEO for U.S. Skiing, a post he assumed in September1995, after four seasons with the Denver Nuggets (1991-95). While in Denver, Leiweke not only played a role in therelocation of the Quebec Nordiques to Colorado but also guided the initial development and design of the Pepsi Center.The first employee hired by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1988, Leiweke served as Vice President for the NBA franchisefor four seasons and helped the club to an NBA attendance record by averaging 26,160 per game in their first season.A native of St. Louis, Leiweke’s career in sports administration began in 1979 as the Assistant General Manager for theMajor Indoor Soccer League’s St. Louis Steamers. A year later, he became the youngest (24) General Manager in prosports by assuming that post with the MISL’s Baltimore Blast. In 1981-82, he became Vice President and General Managerof the Kansas City Comets, and later became President in 1986.Along with his wife, Bernadette, Leiweke has spent an enormous amount of time and effort dedicated to numerous charitablecauses within each of the local <strong>com</strong>munities they have resided. As a tribute to his <strong>com</strong>mitment to Los Angeles,he has been honored by such organizations as Para Los Niños, Inner City Arts, the American Diabetes Association, theGreater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce, the Latin Business Association, the Korean AmericanFederation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association as their Man of the Year, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce as theirDistinguished Man of the Year and as the recipient of the Los Angeles Convention and Visitor’s Bureau’s Los Amigos deLos Angeles Award. Leiweke is currently serving as the Vice Chair of the Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau, asa member of the Board of Trustees for Para Los Niños and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Los AngelesChamber of Commerce, The Los Angeles Police Foundation, the United Way and has recently been appointed to Chair theRainbow/PUSH Entertainment Project.Tim and his wife Bernadette reside in Brentwood with their daughter Francesca.OWNERSHIP/EXECUTIVES89
