Over 45 competitors took part from schools across thecity with pupils split into Level 1 competitors (Years 7 and 8) and Level 2(Years 9, 10 and 11). Pupils were required to compete in three gymnasticdisciplines with strict judging criteria applied.7 of our girls gained a place in the Derby City Team, a great result.This means they have qualified to compete in the Derbyshire SchoolsCompetition in January representing Derby West.Holly Reid, Kelly Hitchcock, Nicola Furness and Sarah Burns gained1st, 3rd, 4th and 7th overall in the Level 1 competition and AmberBonham, Emma Pickering and Bethan Medlock gained 2nd, 3rd and 5th inthe Level 2. Sam Furness and Charlotte Snape narrowly missed out on ateam place.The girls take part in the school’s gym club run by Katy Cuddington,Gymnastic Coach, and have been putting in extra practice to perfect theirfloor routines and vault.
