FARE WELLDr. (Mrs.) Pramila Gupta aninternationally acclaimedNematologist joined AllahabadAgriculture Institute as a CSIRPool Officer in 1972.Thereafter, she joined asLecturer in the Department of Biology in 1975 to1977. She proceeded on external assignments andAllahabad Agricultural Institute was fortunate tohave her back as lecturer in 1980. She continuedher career as Reader and then Professor, Headof Department and Dean, College of Agriculture.She also pursued Post Doctoral studies in Canadaapart from special international assignments. Prof(Dr.) Gupta was conferred with the VishistMahila Vaigyanik Puraskar in 2001 a prestigiousaward in the State of Uttar Pradesh. She haswidely traveled around the world and is a Fellowof several Scientific and Technical societies. Shealso holds membership of several national andinternational professional societies, besides beingon their Editorial Boards. Her outstandingcontribution in Research, Extension andPublication is well recognized.Dr. Pramila Gupta has been an assertive teacherand administrator leaving an indelible mark ongenerations of students who have fulfilled theirdreams to ultimate success.With deepest regards we wouldlike to express our gratitude toProf. (Dr.) S.S. Singh, whohas been associated with thisUniversity for the last thirtysevenyears. An academicianpar excellence Prof. Singh joined the erstwhileAllahabad Agricultural Institute in September1970 as Lecturer in the Department of Agronomyand then was promoted to become Reader in1986. In July 1992 he took charge as Head ofthe Department of Agronomy till his retirementon June 2007. He became Dean, College ofAgriculture & Dean, Faculty of Agriculture onJuly 1996 and remained as Dean, Faculty ofAgriculture till September 2006. Dr. Singh isknown for his soft spoken and loving nature everwillingness to extend his wisdom and physicalcontribution both in academic and non-academicresponsibilities. His contribution in agriculturalresearch, teaching and extension is recognizednationally. His perseverance is evident in hispublications which number in several scores andhis tooks, again over a dozen, are widely readacross the nation and world. His publicationsexpress his richness and command over hissubject. Dr. Singh is not only in the panel of expertswith the Government of India but has executedseveral prestigious projects successfully. Theachievements and contributions to IndianAgriculture is also well recognized including hisdevelopment of innovative techniques andpatents. Prof. (Dr.) Singh is immensely respectedby his students who always fondly remember himfor his academic guidance in graduate,postgraduate including doctorate programmes.His ability to remember every student by theirname is really awesome which leaves aneverlasting bond in the memory of every individualwho has had the opportunity to meet Prof. (Dr.)S.S. Singh and experience his teaching. His threechildren are well placed in their carriers and life.It may be a rather short sketch of his contributionto the University and academic fraternity butProf. (Dr.) S.S.
