25 <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>Service</strong> <strong>Employment</strong> <strong>Program</strong> (SCSEP) Handbookas set by the State of Ohio, and a copy of a valid driver’s license. Additional coverage may berequired.NepotismParticipants cannot be related to any Work-Training Site Supervisor or Administrative Staff andmay not be assigned to any such agency. Federal Regulations prohibit a person who works in adecision-making capacity (whether compensated or not) to hire immediate family members.This also applies to positions of an administrative capacity, staff position, or community serviceposition funded by SCSEP.One-Stop RegistrationParticipants in SCSEP are required to register at the Local County One-Stop office foremployment services immediately upon enrollment in SCSEP and as stated in the IEP. Inaddition, Participants are required to update their enrollment a minimum of every 120 days toremain active in the Job Matching System while in the SCSEP and/or until unsubsidizedemployment is secured.Obligation to Find <strong>Employment</strong>SCSEP Participants are required to seek employment as a condition of participation in SCSEP,and each IEP specifies the agreed upon steps to be taken in this pursuit. Failure to meet theobligation to seek and find employment will result in exit from the SCSEP <strong>Program</strong>. Thefollowing activities are required:• Attendance at meetings and trainings as agreed;• Rotational assignments (work-training sites) as applicable to meet the goals of the IEP;• Commitment to employment – applying for jobs, using available resources to identifyopportunities, participating in job seeking skill workshops or Job Club, taking classes toenhance skills and marketability, etc.Outside the SCSEP <strong>Program</strong> <strong>Employment</strong>Applicants MUST BE UNEMPLOYED at the time of application. If a Participant becomesemployed, either full- or part-time, while enrolled, he/she will be immediately exited from theSCSEP as having obtained unsubsidized employment.Participation in the Foster Grandparent <strong>Program</strong>, the <strong>Senior</strong> Companion <strong>Program</strong>, the <strong>Senior</strong>Demonstration <strong>Program</strong>s, and the Retired <strong>Senior</strong> Volunteer <strong>Program</strong> are not consideredemployment under the SCSEP. Participants may not be assigned to a work-trainingassignment where they are volunteering in one of these programs.
