The 16th annual Steele <strong>Wine</strong>s Harvest Festival will be held from10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14, andwill feature wine, food, art, entertainment and more.Famous for its grape-stomping competition for kids and adults,the two-day festival offers a barbecue served by the local 4-H Club, aswell as several vendor booths with plentiful food, fine art, arts andcrafts, and other unique souvenirs and gifts. In addition, variousmusicians will perform both days.Tasting of the Steele <strong>Wine</strong>s collection from Lake County vineyardsalso will be available throughout the weekend, and tasters will gohome with a Steele <strong>Wine</strong>s logo glass.Children are welcome to attend the event and hang out in the kids’corner, featuring face painting, storytelling, kids’ crafts and more.Sponsored by Steele <strong>Wine</strong>s and held in conjunction with theHarvest Festival, the 22nd-annual Vineyard Run for Literacy will takeplace Sunday, October 14. A benefit for the Lake County LiteracyCoalition, the 5K/10K run and the 5K walk begin at Steele <strong>Wine</strong>s,with a course along autumn-colored vineyards and orchards.Registration is at 8 a.m. Sunday, and the race starts at 9 a.m. Theentry donation is $20 per person and $30 per family.Steele <strong>Wine</strong>s is located at 4350 Thomas Drive at Highway 29 inKelseyville, California. The tasting room is open Monday throughKelseyville Pear Festival, Sept. 29The 20th-annual Kelseyville Pear Festival will be held Saturday,September 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street in Kelseyville.The event, which is held each year on the last Saturday inSeptember, celebrates the local pear harvest. It is a day of fun for thewhole family with a quilt show, a fine arts show, local arts and crafts,as well as performances throughout the day from local musicians anddancers. Mule-drawn wagon rides transport event-goers along thestreets, adding to the hometown feel. Displays and exhibits focus onthe town’s agricultural heritage, featuring the many types of pearsgrown in and around Kelseyville, affectionately known as the “PearCapital of the World.”The Kelseyville Pear Festival Parade – a Lake County tradition –begins at 9:30 a.m. Children also will enjoy a wide array of activitiesincluding jump houses and a petting zoo with miniature animals.Antique tractors, steam engines, and all types of farm equipmentwill be on display as part of the antique tractor and engine exhibitwhere many local tractor collectors show off their finest, oldest, andmost unusual models.Event-goers are encouraged to “make a weekend of it” byenjoying a special pre-festival Friday evening concert by Singin’Cowboy Dave Stamey in the Wildhurst Vineyards courtyard. Ticketsare $40 per person and include the concert, a complimentary glassof wine, and barbecue under the stars.
