A native <strong>of</strong> Germany, Karin received her Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Business (Hons) degree fromMonash University, her M.Sc. degree in <strong>Hotel</strong> Administration from the University <strong>of</strong> Nevada,Las Vegas in the United States, and her Ph.D. in services marketing from Griffith University,Australia.Karin has published on a wide range <strong>of</strong> subjects in leading international tourism andhospitality journals, and presented her research at international and national conferences. Hertwo major areas <strong>of</strong> research interest are services marketing and conventiontourism/management. Karin is the lead editor and chapter author <strong>of</strong> a book on conventiontourism that has been published by Haworth Press New York in 2002, and has chaired the firstConvention and Expo Summit in Asia in 2003. She is the regional editor for Asia/Middle Eastfor the International Journal <strong>of</strong> Event and Festival <strong>Management</strong>, and serves on the EditorialBoard <strong>of</strong> the Journal <strong>of</strong> Travel & <strong>Tourism</strong> Marketing, the Journal <strong>of</strong> Hospitality & <strong>Tourism</strong>Research, the International Journal <strong>of</strong> Contemporary Hospitality <strong>Management</strong>, the Journal <strong>of</strong>Convention & Event <strong>Tourism</strong>, the International Journal <strong>of</strong> Event <strong>Management</strong> Research, andthe Journal <strong>of</strong> Sport and <strong>Tourism</strong>, and as an ad-hoc reviewer for numerous tourism andhospitality journals.
