The School of Social Work at the University of Georgiahas been providing professional social work education since 1964 and has graduated more than 5,000students across B.S.W., M.S.W., Ph.D. and Masters of Management in Nonprofit Organization degreeprograms. The School has also established joint degree programs with the School of Law and theCollege of Public Health. The School is nationally and internationally known for excellence in teaching,research, public service, and international programs, as well as our commitment to social and economicjustice. The School of Social Work is committed to hiring new faculty who work towards alleviatingdisparities and promoting social justice through their teaching, scholarship/research, service and/oradministrative responsibilities.Requirements for positionsThe School of Social Work is searching to fill four positions; three at the rank of assistant professor andone at the rank of associate or full professor. Two positions are for clinical practice and two for macropractice. Applications must demonstrate strong research capacity and potential for external funding.Applications for higher rank (advanced assistant professorships may be considered) must demonstrate asuccessful record of externally funded research. Previous experience or interest with online teaching isdesired. Responsibilities include: teaching, research, field liaison duties, and service.Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to: gerontology, human development across thelife course, social inequalities, health, mental health and health disparities. Although there isopportunity to teach across the educational continuum, two positions will be assigned primarily to theBSW program. Candidates for the assistant professor positions must have a Ph.D. in social work orcognate discipline (e.g. psychology, sociology, public health, neuroscience, economics), and, an M.S.W.degree (consideration will be given to those with two years post-master’s practice experience).Candidates for higher rank must hold a Ph.D. (or terminal degree in their field of study) in social workor a related field (psychology, economics, neuroscience, gerontology, public health, sociology); adistinguished record of scholarship and successful record of extramural research funding; teaching, andservice.
