“2010 is only three years away, and already
we have so much to celebrate!”
No Vancouverite needs to be told they live in the most
beautiful and liveable city in the world: we feel the thrill
of it every time we stroll the False Creek seawall or zip
along the familiar curves of the Sea to Sky Highway.
The sheer beauty and uniqueness of this place is why we
have all chosen put down roots, build our careers and
raise our families here—not elsewhere.
And with the Vancouver Whistler 2010 Olympic Games fast approaching,
every Vancouverite—indeed, every British Columbian—is feeling the
energy and excitement build. From the city skyline, bristling and alive
with new construction, to the restoration of Stanley Park, Vancouver is
evolving, growing and preparing to shine as we welcome the world, once
again, to our city.
For me, one of the biggest thrills about growing my business over the
past two decades into the largest and most successful dealership in
Canada is that I was able to do it all here, in the Lower Mainland. I am
passionate about this place, and about the people Brian Jessel BMW
serves on a daily basis. Just this past month we hit a new sales record
of delivering 205 new vehicles! Our clients are the reason we are the
success we are today, and it gives me tremendous satisfaction to be
able to give back to the community of which Brian Jessel BMW is a part.
This year, one of our biggest successes was unquestionably Cabriolet:
The Brian Jessel BMW Fashion Gala 2007. Held May 3rd, with the
support of Harry Rosen and Hugo Boss, this glittering event raised over
$100,000 in support of BC Women’s Hospital and the VGH & UBC
Hospital Foundation, while celebrating the launch of the first-ever 3
Series hardtop Cabriolet.
Our 66,000 square foot facility was transformed for a single evening into
a magical oasis, where over 800 guests sampled cuisine from the city’s
best restaurants, sipped wine and martinis and bid on hundreds of
BRIAN’S MESSAGE
donated prizes, including a year’s lease of a BMW 323i. Myself, Hugo
Boss President Les Minion and Harry Rosen Vice-President Conrad
Frejlich all agree that it was a spectacular evening, and it was an honour
for our companies to be able to engage with the community in this way.
That Vancouver has much to celebrate is not to say that the city hasn’t
been faced with challenges. This year in particular we endured a storm
that devastated Stanley Park and other coastal areas, and only now are
we beginning the process of rebuilding. But rebuild we will. I am certain
Lower Mainlanders will continue to face inevitable challenges with
perserverance and innovation.
Innovation is also a hallmark of the BMW philosophy. BMW is committed
to sustainable individual mobility and maximum driving pleasure with
minimal harmful emissions. Since 1990, it has reduced the average fuel
consumption of all vehicles by nearly 30 percent. To reduce CO2
emissions long term, BMW aims to produce all vehicles powered by
hydrogen won from renewable sources, such as water and biomass.
That’s good news.
Most excitingly, BMW CleanEnergy technology was behind the creation
of the BMW Hydrogen 7, the world’s first luxury performance automobile
with hydrogen drive. The BMW Hydrogen 7 will enter into very limited
production in 2008, bringing all of us one step closer to an emissionsfree
future.
You can bet I will do everything in my power to be the first BMW dealer
to offer the Hydrogen 7 to you when it becomes available in Canada! In
the meantime, please feel free to come visit us at Brian Jessel BMW at
anytime; we’re always happyto see you. We can discuss the environment
the political climate or even the lack of rain this summer!
Now get out there, as I plan to, and enjoy the beautiful weather. And if you
want to celebrate in a gorgeous 3 Series hardtop Cabriolet, well, my
friends, as far as I’m concerned, there is no better way to enjoy Vancouver.
You know where to find me.
