She says, “I had great mentors who built myconfidence and competence while having fun. One summer day I just knewthis is what I wanted to do; and, this is how I wanted to teach.” This earlyah-ha moment is at the core of how she teaches to this day”. It didn’t takelong before Musicarnival Management noticed Patti’s unique talent. By the thirdsummer, one of her mentors took her under his wing and encouraged her tostep forward to begin teaching the acting class. Patti joined the FairmountInstructor team in 1982, shortly after graduating in Theatre from ClevelandState University. Through the years, Fairmount has been a ‘family affair’ in theSusman home. Her husband was on the Board years ago and continues tovolunteer. Their two sons took gymnastics and theatre classes as children andvolunteer as needed. “My boys still say,’Mom, you just have to do this; it’swhat you’re meant to do.’ If we’re off on break too long, my family knows Ineed to get back to teaching and the kids at Fairmount to feel totally fulfilledand happy.” It’s no surprise a lot of the children come back to say “Thank You”to Mrs. Patti Susman.
