If youanswered yes to any of <strong>the</strong> above, <strong>Fairmount</strong> <strong>Center</strong> nowoffers <strong>the</strong> perfect solution!This fall, <strong>Fairmount</strong> <strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> is proud to offer itsvery first lecture series in music history! This series is madeup of five “mini-sessions.” The first session will focus onpopular <strong>the</strong>atric composers of <strong>the</strong> Romantic period, andeach meeting will focus on one particular composer. Eachclass will provide a balance of repertory to study, includingorchestra, solo piano, concerto, chamber, opera, and balletgenres. In addition, <strong>the</strong> mini-session as a whole will discusspolitical and cultural standards of <strong>the</strong> time, drawing alsofrom art history and literature.First Session: Theatric Romantic PeriodCLASS 1, September 29:A Dance with Death: Franz Liszt’s Music & Presence in EuropeCLASS 2, October 6:The Ring Master: The Operas of Richard WagnerCLASS 3, October 13:Witches, Fairies, Heroes, Suspense!:Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie FantastiqueCLASS 4, October 20:A Little Night Music:Frederic Chopin’s Incredible Piano MusicCLASS 5, October 27:A Titan: The Symphonies of Gustav MahlerFree to <strong>the</strong> public but donations will be accepted at <strong>the</strong> door tohelp support this special community program. Each class lastsprecisely one hour and includes snacks. Previous experiencewith music is NOT required.Featured Student of <strong>the</strong> Season:Adriana Holst, Voice StudentAdriana first discovered <strong>Fairmount</strong> Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong>Conservatory (FPAC), currently FTA, when she was6 years old and was in Peter Pan with <strong>the</strong> youthgroup. Miss Holst takes voice lessons from DavidFuller. She says, “I love <strong>the</strong> private lessons that I have taken with Mr.Fuller. He is an excellent voice coach. I love <strong>the</strong> passion that <strong>the</strong> teachersand students share with me. I also think everyone involved with <strong>the</strong>center is pleasant and helpful.” Adriana is also taking dance classesand is a Singing Angel. This summer she will be going to NYC to studywith <strong>the</strong> Broadway Artists Alliance. Her favorite thing to do? “I LOVE toper<strong>for</strong>m whe<strong>the</strong>r it is acting, dancing or singing. I hope to make peopleHAPPY by entertaining <strong>the</strong>m. If I am not per<strong>for</strong>ming…I’m not happyand very boring.”Vocal Technique and Per<strong>for</strong>mance - NEW!Ages: 9 to AdultInstructor: David FullerLocation: Main CampusDay/Time: Sunday, October 20, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm<strong>Fairmount</strong> <strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> presents a Vocal Techniqueand Per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>Class</strong> under <strong>the</strong> direction of David Fuller,Music Director and Voice Instructor. This program will helpyou understand what you should consider <strong>for</strong> auditions andper<strong>for</strong>mances. Bring a memorized solo of your choice andper<strong>for</strong>m it as part of our workshop. Each participant willreceive an evaluation, outlining your current strengths andinsights <strong>for</strong> future improvement. Vocal technique, posture,breathing, phonation, relaxation and registers will be exploredwith exercises and games from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm. At4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, <strong>the</strong> class will focus on solo per<strong>for</strong>manceswith a professionalaccompanist.
