Eligibility: Residing in <strong>the</strong> Kne‘ohe to Kualoa communities Families must be available for weekly home visits to role-play <strong>the</strong> HIPPYactivity packets and to discuss any educati<strong>on</strong>al or parenting c<strong>on</strong>cerns Group meetings for parents and children are held every o<strong>the</strong>r week Fee: FreeHead StartThe Head Start Home Base program serves families throughout O‘ahu,emphasizing <strong>the</strong> parent’s role as <strong>the</strong> primary teacher and advocate for <strong>the</strong>irchild. The home visitor meets with <strong>the</strong> child and family in <strong>the</strong> comfort of <strong>the</strong>irown home for 1½ hours each week. The home visitor encourages goodparenting practices, teaches parenting skills, and provides less<strong>on</strong>s to promoteparent/child interacti<strong>on</strong>s and learning with age-appropriate fun activities. Bim<strong>on</strong>thlygroup socializati<strong>on</strong> activities with o<strong>the</strong>r home-based families areplanned at various sites. Eligibility: Families within federal income guidelines with a preschool-agechild Fee: Free26
