CLASSROOM CONTENTSMART NotebookTipsHide and RevealYou can add interactivity to a lesson by using a reveal activity, such as hiding the answer to aquestion behind an object on your SMART Notebook software page or by using the erase or ScreenShade features. Here’s how:1Click the Text button on the toolbarand type your question and answer4in the working area of a SMARTNotebook software page.23Click the Shapes button on thetoolbar, select a shape and thendrag your mouse pointer to drawthat shape over the answer.Click the Fill button on the toolbarfor the Fill Effects panel to appearand select the color and type offill you’d like to use in your shape – solid,gradient, pattern or image. Then click insideyour shape to fill it with your selections.56Click the Select button on thetoolbar and double click yourshape. A text box will appearwhere you can add instructions. Youcan also change the font style, colorand alignment by selecting your optionsfrom the toolbar.Right-click the object that is covering theanswer and select Order from the popupmenu. Select Bring to Front to ensureyour students don’t see the answer beforeyou want to reveal it.During the lesson, move the shape toreveal the answer.12 | April 2012

Clickthe Pens button on the toolbar to select apen from the toolbar that appears.Click the Properties tab on theside of your SMART Notebooksoftware page and select theLine Style, Thickness of the line you’dlike to use. Then, choose a Color thatmatches the background of your page.Use your mouse pointer to draw over theanswer and cover it with digital ink that isthe same color as your page.12Type the information you wanthidden in the working area ofyour SMART Notebook softwarepage and click the Show/Hide Screen Shadebutton on the toolbar. A gray shade willcover your page.Resize your shade by using the smallcircles that appear near the edges of theshade. You can move the shade up ordown and left or right to reveal the pagein stages.4During your lesson, select theEraser button from the toolbar orpick up the eraser from the PenTray to erase the digital ink and revealthe answer.Download SMARTNotebook 11 software.April 2012 | 13
