If you feel any medical orphysical symptoms related to vibration(such as tingling, numbness, andwhite or blue fingers), seek medicaladvice as soon as possible.Do not smoke during use. Nicotinereduces the blood supply to thehands and fingers, increasing the riskof vibration-related injury.Wear suitable gloves to reduce thevibration effects on the user.Use tools with the lowest vibrationwhen there is a choice between differentprocesses.5.6.7.Include vibration-free periods eachday of work.Grip tool as lightly as possible (whilestill keeping safe control of it). Letthe tool do the work.To reduce vibration, maintain the toolas explained in this manual. If anyabnormal vibration occurs, stop useimmediately.Save theseinstructions.Grounding InstructionsTo preventelectric shockand death fromincorrect groundingwire connectionRead and follow theseinstructions:Grounded Tools: Tools with ThreeProng Plugs1.2.In the event of a malfunction orbreakdown, grounding provides apath of least resistance for electriccurrent to reduce the risk of electricshock. This tool is equipped with anelectric cord having an equipmentgroundingconductor and a groundingplug. The plug must be pluggedinto a matching outlet that is properlyinstalled and grounded in accordancewith all local codes and ordinances.Do not modify the plug provided – if itwill not fit the outlet, have the properoutlet installed by a qualified electrician.SKU 93762 For technical questions, please call 1-800-444-3353. 3.Improper connection of the equipment-groundingconductor can resultin a risk of electric shock. Theconductor with insulation having anouter surface that is green with orwithout yellow stripes is the equipment-groundingconductor. If repairor replacement of the electric cord orplug is necessary, do not connect theequipment-grounding conductor to alive terminal.8.9.The outlet must be properly installedand grounded in accordance with allcodes and ordinances.Do not use an adapter to connect thistool to a different outlet.Double Insulated Tools: Toolswith Two Prong Plugs4.Check with a qualified electrician orservice personnel if the groundinginstructions are not completely understood,or if in doubt as to whether thetool is properly grounded.5.6.Use only 3-wire extension cords thathave 3-prong grounding plugs and3-pole receptacles that accept thetool’s plug.Repair or replace damaged or worncord immediately.1.To reduce the risk of electric shock, double insulated equipment has a polarizedplug (one blade is wider thanthe other). This plug will fit in a polarizedoutlet only one way. If the plugdoes not fit fully in the outlet, reversethe plug. If it still does not fit, contacta qualified electrician to install theproper outlet. Do not change the plugin any way.2.Double insulated tools may be usedin either of the 120 volt outlets shownin the preceding illustration. (SeeOutlets for 2-Prong Plug.)7. This tool is intended for use on a circuitthat has an outlet that looks likethe one illustrated above in 125 V~3-Prong Plug and Outlet. Then, retightenthe Socket Head Screw (156).(See Figure M.)Adjusting The Blade Guide Bearings:NOTE: Blade Guide Bearings (88, 92,100, 104) adjustment is a critical factorin the performance of the Bandsaw.1.It is always best to try a new SawBlade (82) to see if it will correct poorcutting before attempting to adjust theBlade Guide Bearings. For example,if a Saw Blade becomes dull on oneside sooner than the other, it willbegin cutting crooked. A Saw Bladereplacement will correct this problem, whereas Blade Guide Bearingsadjustment will not.2. If a new Saw Blade does not correctthe problem, check the Blade AdjustableSeats (83, 110) to obtain theproper clearance. (See Figure N.)There should be from .000” (justtouching) to .001” clearance betweenthe Saw Blade and Blade GuideBearings (88, 92, 100, 104). INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE,AND CLEANING1. WARNING! Make sure the PowerSwitch (164) is in its “OFF” positionand the tool is unplugged from itselectrical outlet before performing anyinspection, maintenance, or cleaningprocedures.2. Before each use, inspect the generalcondition of the Bandsaw. Checkfor loose screws, misalignment orbinding of moving parts, cracked orbroken parts, damaged electrical wiring, and any other condition that mayaffect its safe operation. If abnormalnoise or vibration occurs, have theproblem corrected before further use.Do not use damaged equipment.BLADE TENSIONKNOB (34)3. Before each use, inspect the SawBlade (82). Using a dull Saw Bladewill cause excessive wear on the Motorof the Bandsaw and will not producea satisfactory cut. Replace witha new Saw Blade when needed. Toreplace a Saw Blade:a. NOTE: Wear heavy-duty workgloves to avoid accidental cuts fromthe Saw Blade (82) when performingthis procedure.b. Raise the body Frame (60) to its fullvertical position, making sure it locksin place by turning the Support Plate(150) to the right until it firmly locksinto the Body Frame, and insert theLocking Pin (153). (See Figure S.)c. Release Saw Blade (82) tension byturning the Blade Tension Knob (34).(See Figure U.)d. e. Place the new Saw Blade (82) betweeneach of the Guide assembliesand around the Upper Blade Wheel(37) and Lower Blade Wheel (54).IMPORTANT: The teeth must bepointing downward toward theMotor. (See Figure U.)f. NOTE: The Bandsaw is equippedwith a 64” diameter, .025” thick,15/32” wide, 14 teeth per inch SawBlade (82). The machine will alsoaccept Blades in 4, 6, 8, and 10tooth sizes. The choice of Bladepitch is determined by the thicknessof the material to be cut. The thinnerthe workpiece, the more teeth is recommended.A minimum of 3 teethshould engage the workpiece at alltimes for proper cutting.(See Figure U.)CAUTION: If the teeth of the SawBlade are so far apart that theystraddle the workpiece, severedamage to the workpiece and/orSaw Blade will result.g. Tighten the tension on the new SawBlade (82) by turning the Blade TensionKnob (34). (See Figure U.)h. Close the Blade Back Cover (114).(See Figure U.)4.
