Chiang Rai Horticultural Research Centre (ศูนย�วิจัยพืชสวนเชียงราย)
is located in Pa Ko Village on Highway 1211 (Den Ha - Dong Mada
Route), 6.5 km from town. Visitors can see beds of decorative
flowers; such as, Patumma or Siam tulip (Curcuma), Krachiao
(Curcuma), rose, chrysanthemum, gladiolus, lily, etc., vegetables;
such as, cabbage, green bean, garden pea, etc., and a herbal garden,
on an area of more than 2,000 rai. In addition, there is a giant lake
which is habitat to various species of waterfowl, especially duck. The
centre is open daily from 8.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. Houses, tents, and
restaurants are available for visitors. Fresh agricultural produce and

Wawi Highland Agricultural Experiment Station (Chiang Rai
(Wawi) Service Centre for Crops and Production Resources) (สถานี
ทดลองเกษตรที่สูงดอยวาวี)
is located in Mu 3, Ban Doi Chang, Amphoe
Mae Suai. It was established in 1985 with the cooperation from the
Horticultural Research Institute, Department of Agriculture, and the
Thai-German Highland Development Programme. With the location
at about 1,500 m above sea level, the weather here is cool all year
round; the average temperature is 18-19 degrees Celsius. The area is
used for research and experiments of growing plants on highland
soil, including macadamia, tea, Arabica coffee, fruit trees,
persimmon, peach, chestnut, temperate vegetables and flowers,
tulip, etc. Among the interesting places is the Garden of Fragrant
Flowers in Honour of Her Majesty the Queen. There are also
viewpoints for seeing a sea of mist and impressive sunrise and
sunset. The station has provided houses, restaurants, and a campsite
