The Kavak chromite mine,located in Eskisehir, Mihaliççik was initiated by a governmentdecree signed by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1930, whilst theKöycegiz mine in Mugla-Köycegiz started in 1948 and the Tavasmine in Denizli-Tavas in 1965.No. of Mines Controlled: 3 (three), located throughout TurkeyNames of Mines:Kavak, Tavas and Köycegiz.(Please refer to Mine Details Sheet for further information)Average Chemical Composition of the Grades of Chromite Ore Produced (%)Kavak MineCr2O3 SiO2 FeO CaO Al2O3 MgO P S V2O5 Cr:FeMarketable ProductConcentrate 53.7 3.14 15.45 0.15 10.1 14.75 0.002 0.005 0.13 3.059Lumpy 46-52 2.5-6 - - - - - - - -Average Chemical Composition of the Grades of Chromite Ore Produced (%)Tavas MineCr2O3 SiO2 FeO CaO Al2O3 MgO P S V2O5 Cr:FeMarketable ProductConcentrate 52.45 4.0 15.60 0.10 10.1 16.2 0.002 0.001 0.11 2.959Lumpy 42 10-11 12 0.10 8 21 0.001 0.002 0.09 2.8-3© I.C.D.A. 2003TÜRK MAADIN COMPANY A.S.

MINE DETAILSTURKEYThe Camasirlik III body, starting from the surface, lies in aNW/SE direction with an inclination of 60° - 85°. At the top ofthe ore, the section area is 800 - 1 000 m 2 . Wallrocks are thesame as Calasirlik II and the body is hard and strong because ofthe large amounts of contained silicates. The Yeni Cevher body is very close to Camasirlik II andis lense type. In the middle of the lense the grade is very high(55 - 56% Cr2O3) and the ore is very brittle. The section area is1 500-2 000 m 2 .The Erenler ore body is 1 km away from the main ore blocksand differs from the others with its band-shaped structure.Starting from level 858, it lies in a Northward direction with adip of 60° - 65° with a section area of 1 600 m 2 .Mining Techniques Used: The mining method, which has been used since 1984,is “top slicing with artificial roof” in which LHD machinesare being used extensively.Reserves:The total visible reserves of the area are estimated to be over1.5 million tonnes, of which CamasirlikII represents510 000 tonnes, Camasirlik II 290 000 tonnes, Yeni Cevher400 000 tonnes and the Erenler mine 300 000 tonnes. However, it is expected that these reserves may extendto as much as 2.5 million tonnes or more.© I.C.D.A. 2003TÜRK MAADIN COMPANY A.S.

MINE DETAILSTURKEYProduction Capacity:The total production capacity of the area is100 000 - 120 000 tonnes run-of-mine ore, which yieldsapproximately 35 000 - 40 000 tonnes of finished/saleableproduct per year.Ore Dressing &The ore dressing plant, i.e. the concentrator, yields 54% Cr2O3material. Run-of-mine ore is crushed and processed by gravityseparation.Type of Ore Produced:LumpyConcentrate© I.C.D.A. 2003TÜRK MAADIN COMPANY A.S.

MINE DETAILSTURKEYMine Name:Tavas Chrome MineName of Deposit &The Tavas Mine is located in the Tavas district near Denizli.Geology of Occurrence:Typically podiform in nature. In the massive peridotite, chromepods and lenses are formed.Ore Body Description:The main ore body was fractured by tectonic movements. The ore blocks, some distance apart, were thrown by 4 majorfaults in a NS direction with 50° towards the West and arebasically lense type. Their thickness varies between 0.5 and6 metres, each containing 100 000 - 150 000 tonnesof chromite ore.Mining Techniques Used: “Top slicing method with artificial roof”, using LHD machinesReserves:Approximately 400 000 tonnes of which 300 000 tonnesare visible and the balance possible.Run-of-MineProduction:27 000 tonnes run-of-mine per annum, from whichapproximately 19 500 tonnes of final saleable productare obtained (7 200 tonnes of lumpy and 12 300 tonnesof concentrates).© I.C.D.A. 2003TÜRK MAADIN COMPANY A.S.

MINE DETAILSTURKEYMine Name:Köycegiz Chrome MineName of Deposit &Location:The Köycegiz Mine is located in the South West of Turkey, near Fethiye.Geology of Occurrence:The area is characterised by ultrabasic chromite-bearing rocks. In the North, this formation is separated from paleozicformations in a zone of disturbance which is tectonicallyof primary importance.Ore Body Description:The main ore body is fractured by several faults and the oreblocks are mainly lense type.Mining TechniquesUsed:Underground mining. The “top slicing method with artificialroof” is being used with LHD machines.Reserves:Approximately 50 000 tonnes of visible reserves with a furtherpossible 40 000 tonnes.Run-of-MineProduction:27 000 tonnes run-of-mine per annum, from whichapproximately 19 500 tonnes of final saleable productare obtained (7 200 tonnes of lumpy and 12 300 tonnesof concentrates).© I.C.D.A. 2003TÜRK MAADIN COMPANY A.S.
