This language should provide local experts, survivorsand other stakeholders with an opportunity to review the model and strengthen itsimplementation by adapting it to local community systems and resources. Inaccordance with state law, the adapted model will then be reviewed for appropriatenessby the Commission.This protocol addresses primary areas which should also be included in the protocols oflocal multidisciplinary teams, including delineated goals and objectives; a generaldescription of the roles and responsibilities of each team member; a specification of theoperation of the local team, including the location and frequency of meetings; the issueof confidentiality; a description of training needs; procedures for the investigation andreview of cases; and other key elements. In addition, a clearly stated mission drafted bythe team should be part of every local protocol. This model protocol also offersrecommendations and strategies for the process of developing local teams.Importantly, these functions include both the joint investigation of child sexual abusecases and the case review process for multidisciplinary teams. This protocol reflects amodel in which the team operates as an umbrella under which a variety of separatefunctions fall. The portion of the protocol tailored to joint investigation directs theinvolvement in compliance with statute, of the Department for Community BasedServices and law enforcement.
