Göteborg Region’s trade and commercial life has since
history been an international one. The world’s globalisation
has indeed influenced the region in a positive
way. This can be reflected in the growing number and
the development of foreign owned companies which have
contributed to the regional economic growth. The trend
has indeed been positive when looking at over a 10 years
period. For instance in 1998, the region had 889 foreign
owned companies compared to the figure 2055 which is
the case today. The previous report with numbers from
2006 presented 1 969 companies and that meant an increase
with 11 % from 2004. From 2006, we can witness
an increase of 4, 5 % (2055 companies). In addition, foreign
owned companies choosing to place a head office
