„The process <strong>of</strong> structure formation in the ternary Gd-Co-Ti alloys".<br />

The project aim is to determine the physical and thermodynamic properties <strong>of</strong> a new class <strong>of</strong><br />

advanced materials, which are ternary Co-Gd-Ti alloys characterised in the liquid state by an<br />

area <strong>of</strong> limited miscibility. The scope <strong>of</strong> the planned research is directed at understanding the<br />

process <strong>of</strong> shaping a unique structure <strong>of</strong> the alloy during rapid cooling, and in particular at the<br />

clarification <strong>of</strong> the existence <strong>of</strong> an area <strong>of</strong> the limited miscibility, investigating further the<br />

composition <strong>of</strong> the coexisting phases, as well as the physical properties <strong>of</strong> homogeneous liquid<br />

phases or their mixture. The selection <strong>of</strong> alloy chemical composition is expected to enable<br />

fabrication <strong>of</strong> new metal composite materials with a metallic glass matrix.<br />
