Aschau
through meadows to the bridge over the Ziller, cross it, fork left and walk
back to Aschau.
Walking time: Aschau-Zell-Aschau about 2 hours
Set off from the village centre to the left towards the Aufenfeld camp site,
forking right after the railway crossing. The asphalted path leads through
Mitterdorf to the bridge over which the railway heads for Zell. Fork right after
the bridge in the direction of Zell. Way back to Aschau: coming from Zell,
after the railway bridge, fork right, and take the field path alongside the river
Ziller all the way back to Aschau.
The Aschau Siedel round trip
Walking time: Aschau-Siedel-Aschau about 11/2 hours
Set off from the village centre to the left towards the lift station by the Aufenfeld
camp site, from which a gravelled track leads over into the woods. Fork
left, uphill, along a steeply climbing path (about 15 minutes), then turn left
and follow the gravelled track to the Siedel farmstead. Below it fork left again,
downhill, and continue on the asphalt road (which carries next to no traffic)
back to the camp site and on back to Aschau.
Aschau-Thurnbach-Jausenstation Klammlhof
Walking time: Aschau-Klammlhof-Thurnbach about 1 hour
Set off from the village centre to the left towards the Aufenfeld camp site,
turning right before the adjoining lift station and crossing the pedestrian
bridge. Then take a field path until you are above Thurnbach church, forking
left towards the Gasthof Thurnbach, after which the path leads along the
meadows and through the woods to a road. Fork right, and after about 50 m
on the road fork left, after which it’s only 3 minutes along a forest path to the
Klammlhof (refreshments available).
Aschau - Tiefenbach/Hörhag
Walking time: Aschau-Hörhag-Aschau about 3 hours
Leave the village centre on the road to Hotel Aschauerhof, past which a path
leads to the water basin. Fork left on to a forest track that then climbs steeply
up to where it joins the Höhenstrasse. Fork left, walk for about 45 minutes
along a little used asphalt road (passing some delightful farmhouses) to the
turning off to Hörhag (which was once a refreshment place). Turn left and
walk for about 15 minutes on a narrow forest path to the Mizunhof. The route
is then downhill on an asphalt road to the Keiler-Bauer, from which the route
is through meadows and along forest paths back to Aschau.
Aschau - Zellberg/Tiefenbach
Walking time: Aschau-Zellberg-Tiefenbach-Aschau about 31/2 hours
Leave the village centre on the road to Hotel Aschauerhof, where you fork
left and cross the bridge to the Gästehaus Mühlfeld, just through the woods.
A gravelled track then takes you to the turning off towards Mitterdorf, from
which a path leads steeply up to the Flaschper cowshed. Keep to the left
there, and walk along meadow and field paths to the Wald farmstead, where
you fork right. It’s then a short stretch along an asphalt road with little traffic,
followed by a path through meadows to the Tiefenbach (stream). After the
bridge there the route continues along a little used asphalt road, past pretty
farmhouses, to the Mizunhof, from which another asphalt road leads downhill
to the Keiler-Bauer. The path then leads through meadows and along forest
paths back to Aschau.
Variant for the return leg: at the Mizunhof turn left towards Hörhag and take a
narrow forest path until it joins the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse. Then keep right
