Professional EducationStrategic objectives• Provide professional education and training to Forensicare staff to further enhancetheir specialist skills, expertise and knowledge.• Continue to develop a learning environment for Forensicare staff to promote criticalthinking and innovation.• Enhance the responsiveness of teaching institutions, service providers andagencies to the needs of forensic mental health patients and clients.• Promote and develop the specialist skills and knowledge of practitioners andprofessionals in the forensic mental health area.Challenges• Making education and training opportunities for staff at Forensicare and areamental health services accessible and relevant• Establish a learning culture that values education and training as a core elementof professional practice and accountability.How we plan to succeed in 2007-2008• Contribute to training needs of agencies in North East Victoria into Learning (NEVIL)cluster group.• Respond to specialised training needs of area mental health services statewide.• Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science –Work closely with the Centre to further expand, strengthen and consolidateprofessional training programs for Forensicare staff and staff from othergovernment and non-government agencies.Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health Annual Report 2006-200745
