In Germany, the AHKs are closely connected with the 80 Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs) throughout<br />
the country, as well as industry associations, and economic developers. There is a particularly close cooperation<br />
with Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), the foreign trade and inward investment agency of the Federal Republic<br />
of Germany headquartered in Berlin. The Chambers and GTAI even share offices in <strong>Chicago</strong>, New York, San<br />
Francisco, and Washington DC, and work together on various projects.<br />

SERvING GERMAN BuSINESS<br />
FOR 150 yEARS<br />
The umbrella organization of the global Chamber (AHK)<br />
network, the Association of German Chambers of Industry<br />
and Commerce (DIHK), celebrated its 150-year anniversary<br />
in March <strong>2011</strong>. The DIHK was founded 1861 in Heidelberg<br />
under the name of “Allgemeiner Deutscher Handelstag” and<br />
has since lent its voice to German business on the national,<br />
European, and international level.<br />
<strong>GACCoM</strong> Vice Chairman, Dr. Friedrich-Hans Grandin, and<br />
President & CEO, Simone Pohl, attended the festivities<br />
in Berlin that drew over 600 politicians, entrepreneurs,<br />
and Chamber representatives and included meetings<br />
with several Federal Ministers and other high-ranking<br />
