The ECHASecretariat revised the Guidance Part 4 - Environmental hazardsand Annexes of the guidance document referring to the revisedcriteria for the long-term aquatic hazard for substances andmixtures and added new Part 5 – Additional hazards referring tothe hazard class “hazardous to the ozone layer”. As well, a numberof examples have been included in the respective Parts andAnnexes to illustrate the revisions performed. Further to this, arange of editorial corrections were proposed for Part 1- Generalprinciples for classification and labelling.The update includes the following:- Revision of Part 1, by eliminating and amending out of dateinformation and restructuring the text in order to reflect theGuidance update.- All green boxes in Part 4 that are impacted by the 2 nd ATPwere updated. As the CLP legal text uses commas instead ofdots to define numbers smaller than 1, the green boxes nowshow commas as well.- Revision of Part 4, by providing guidance on the application ofthe new long-term aquatic hazard criteria for substances andmixtures.- Section 4.1.3 Classification of substances hazardous to theaquatic environment and section 4.1.4 Classification ofmixtures hazardous to the aquatic environment weresubstantially revised, for example by addition of newreferences, as well as the new/ revised examples to illustraterelevant topics in the Part 4.- New Part 5 - Additional hazards was added (please note thatPart 5: Labelling was deleted from the Guidance in previousnon recorded versions and covered via a new Guidance onLabelling and Packaging in accordance with Regulation (EC)No 1272/2008 published in April 2011).- Most of the I.3 sub-sections in Annex I – Aquatic toxicity wererevised.- In Annex II – Rapid degradation the terminology wasmodified.- Most of the Annex IV – Metals and Inorganic MetalCompounds was substantially modified and revised, as well asin sub-section IV.7 new examples were added.April 2011April 20123
