The former Local Boardhas been superseded by an Urban District <strong>Council</strong>,under the provisions of the "Local Government Act,'1894" (56 and 57. Vict. c. 73). By the StockportBorough Extension Order of 1901, 193 acres of Bredburyparish were added to the Borough of Stockport,and by the Bredbury and Romiley Extension Orderot 1902, part ot the parish of Brinnington, 461 acres,was added to the parish of Bredbury. ^e ecclesiasticalparish was formed Sept- 8, 1846, from the parish ofStockport. The church of St. Mark, erected in 1848at a cost of ;^3,33o, is a building ot stone in the EarlyEnglish style, consisting of chancel, nave ot five bays,aisles, west porch and a western tower with pinnaclescontaining a clock with four dials and one bell: in thechancel is a memorial window to Zipporah, wife of thelate W.
