14. PUBLIC/STAFF GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL14.1 Your Company has framed a well defined grievanceprocedure evolved under the Code of Discipline fromthe very inception. Since its introduction, the Schemehas been working satisfactorily without any complaintfrom any corner, either from the recognised Union orOfficers Association of your Company. Grievancesreceived have been redressed to the satisfaction of theaggrieved employees. As regards public grievance,as and when any complaints are received from thepublic, necessary remedial action, if any, is taken bythe Company immediately.14.2 Complaints/grievances other than the staff grievanceare categorised into customer/consumer complaints/grievances from the Contractors, NGOs/ General Publicetc. The respective project heads are empoweredto dispose off the grievances concerning their areasand the general public. Linkage has been provided toCentralized Public Grievances Redressal & MonitoringSystem (CPGRAMS) with effect from 01.05.2011.14.3 As regards women employees, the guidelines laiddown by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the matterrelating to sexual harassment of women in work placeare strictly followed.14.4 The grievances received and disposed off by theCompany are reported to the Administrative Ministryon a monthly basis. The guidelines laid down by theGovernment of India in this regard are being followed.The Government also reviews the subject matterperiodically.14.5 The Second Administration Reforms Commissionin its 12th report “Citizens Centric Administration” –the Heart of Governance recommended for makingorganisation transparent, accountable and citizensfriendly through making citizen charter more effectiveand mandatory. It also makes all ResponsibilityCentre to have Citizen Charter. Based on aboverecommendation, a Public Service Delivery (Sevottam)created for assessing and improving the quality ofservices delivery for the citizens. The system alsoinvolves the identification of the services delivered tothe citizens, quality service, its objective, improvementof quality, by using innovative methods for developingbusiness process and more informative with the helpof information technology. CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)Union Steel Minister Shri Beni Prasad Verma handling over a cheque for relief of Uttarakhand cloud burst and flood victimscontributed by KIOCL. Also seen in the picture are CMD Shri Malay Chatterjee and Secretary, Ministry of Steel Shri DRS Chaudhary.The scheme of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has evolved right since inception and has been endorsed by the topmanagement. The Company is committed to operate in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner,KIOCL 2837th Annual Report 2012 - 13
while recognizing the interest of its stakeholders. Theaim of CSR policy of the Company is to identify and tolend a helping hand to the SC/ST/underprivileged andeconomically weaker sections of the society and tocontribute for their growth and development.As an integral part of the society, KIOCL is movingforward by achieving the objectives of its socialresponsibility. The Company has supportedinnumerable social initiatives primarily focused onvillages within the radius of its project areas in areaslike Education, Community Development, Promotionof Art, Culture & Sports, Health Care and Spreadingof environmental awareness (by plantation etc) amongschool children. For the year 2012-13, an amount of` 283 lakhs (3% of PAT of 2011-12) is earmarked forCSR projects. Out of which, a sum of ` 78.66 lakhshas been spent during the year and the balance will beutilised in the coming years.Community Development:(i) The Company has constructed community hallat Jamble.(ii)Health:(i)(ii)Laid the roads, culverts, Electricity, Bus Shelter& other facilities at KunyalThe Company provided one Ambulance andOxygen Concentrators to ChikkanaykanahalliGovt. Hospital.Provided financial assistance to Shankar EyeHospital for setting up of Ocularistry Clinic.KIOCL donated two class rooms to Brahmahashree Narayan Guru Educational Trust, Katipalla, Mangalore under CSR initiatives.Education:(i) The Company is providing infrastructuralfacilities to various Anganawadis & Schools andpaid school fees to poor students.(ii)(iii)Bus facilities are provided to the students ofKudremukh and surrounding villages to pursuetheir studies at nearby town Kalasa.The Company provided saplings to schoolchildren to spread the awareness regardingenvironment and ecology.Sports:(i)(ii)The Company is promoting sports at village leveland for physically challenged people.
