Theaim of CSR policy of <strong>the</strong> Company is to identify and tolend a helping hand to <strong>the</strong> SC/ST/underprivileged andeconomically weaker sections of <strong>the</strong> society and tocontribute for <strong>the</strong>ir growth and development.As an integral part of <strong>the</strong> society, KIOCL is movingforward by achieving <strong>the</strong> objectives of its socialresponsibility. The Company has supportedinnumerable social initiatives primarily focused onvillages within <strong>the</strong> radius of its project areas in areaslike Education, Community Development, Promotionof Art, Culture & Sports, Health Care and Spreadingof environmental awareness (by plantation etc) amongschool children. For <strong>the</strong> year <strong>2012</strong>-13, an amount of` 283 lakhs (3% of PAT of 2011-12) is earmarked forCSR projects. Out of which, a sum of ` 78.66 lakhshas been spent during <strong>the</strong> year and <strong>the</strong> balance will beutilised in <strong>the</strong> coming years.Community Development:(i) The Company has constructed community hallat Jamble.(ii)Health:(i)(ii)Laid <strong>the</strong> roads, culverts, Electricity, Bus Shelter& o<strong>the</strong>r facilities at KunyalThe Company provided one Ambulance andOxygen Concentrators to ChikkanaykanahalliGovt. Hospital.Provided financial assistance to Shankar EyeHospital for setting up of Ocularistry Clinic.KIOCL donated two class rooms to Brahmahashree Narayan Guru Educational Trust, Katipalla, Mangalore under CSR initiatives.Education:(i) The Company is providing infrastructuralfacilities to various Anganawadis & Schools andpaid school fees to poor students.(ii)(iii)Bus facilities are provided to <strong>the</strong> students ofKudremukh and surrounding villages to pursue<strong>the</strong>ir studies at nearby town Kalasa.The Company provided saplings to schoolchildren to spread <strong>the</strong> awareness regardingenvironment and ecology.Sports:(i)(ii)The Company is promoting sports at village leveland for physically challenged people.
