20. HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENTHuman Resource Development is a continuous process. Training and Development at all levels of employees is givenpriority by <strong>the</strong> Company to improve <strong>the</strong>ir skills and contribute productively to <strong>the</strong> Company. During <strong>the</strong> year, <strong>the</strong> achievementin <strong>the</strong> area was 4084 Mandays training for both Executives and Non-executives.To enhance <strong>the</strong>ir skills and Knowledge, employees across <strong>the</strong> Company were nominated to External and in-house TrainingProgrammes at different locations on various subjects.21. AWARD AND RECOGNITIONYour Company was conferred with Raj Bhasha Shield 1st Prize for <strong>the</strong> year 2011-12 for <strong>the</strong> outstanding performancein <strong>the</strong> implementation of Official Language by Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhion 22-02-20<strong>13.</strong>22. VIGILANCEVigilance Department is headed by Chief Vigilance Officer. Preventive vigilance has been <strong>the</strong> thrust area of VigilanceDepartment all <strong>the</strong>se years and <strong>the</strong> same has received focused attention during <strong>the</strong> year. A climate of preventive vigilancewas generated to sensitise officials at all levels about <strong>the</strong> ill effects of corruption and malpractices.Regular Structured Meeting of Vigilance with <strong>the</strong> management is being conducted and issues related to e-governance,Leveraging Technology, Integrity Pact, Tender management, Award of works, Recruitment policy have been discussed.The Vigilance Department is certified for compliance to ISO certification 9001-2008 standards to ensure continuousimprovement in Quality Management System.The Vigilance Department is overseeing <strong>the</strong> implementation of Integrity Pact in <strong>the</strong> Company. At present, Two IndependentExternal Monitors (IEM) as approved by CVC has been empanelled for a period of three years. During <strong>the</strong> last one year,113 tenders have been issued incorporating IP clause. Till date, no complaints have been received under IP.Vigilance Awareness Week was observed from 29th October to 3rd November <strong>2012</strong> in <strong>the</strong> Company. On this occasion,<strong>the</strong> importance of observing <strong>the</strong> Vigilance Awareness Week and steps taken in your Company to streng<strong>the</strong>n vigilanceactivities were highlighted. At Mangalore Plant, on this occasion workshops and seminars were conducted.
