In WA, alignmentwith the DSC’s statewide blueprint ‘CountMe In – Disability Future Directions’ strategyprovides further opportunities for forwardthinkingaccess and inclusion initiativesat Curtin. Curtin is on track to promoteuniversal design; to explore new initiatives,including Australian university leadership inthe inclusion of people with an intellectualdisability as students and employees; and toaccommodate our ageing community as staffand students through an academic focus onageing in Curtin courses.Curtin has implemented many initiatives tohelp ensure access and inclusion for peoplewith a disability. These include:• significant contribution to disabilityresearch, particularly through the Centrefor Research into Disability and Society andthe Centre for Research on Ageing• a number of plans, policies and proceduresto address the barriers experienced bypeople with a disability• an endorsed Accessible Information policy,with staff education rollout underway
